Ah, Marc Crawford. Good coach once but the game really passed him by. Same with Mike Keenan, whose only semblance of a system was to yell at everyone. Maybe one of them can coach the Vegas team if they ever finish selling 10,000 season tickets. They're crawling to the finish line.

EDIT: come to think of it, hockey passed Marc Crawford by when "have Joe Sakic be amazing" stopped being an option for him.

Assume the Hawks, Islanders, Rangers, Maple Leafs, Kings, Avs...at a minimum will be sell outs, if not on a Monday night....some of them twice...thats close to 20% of the home games...San Jose, Calgary, Van would do OK....Pittsburgh would probably sell out too...

people will plan to go to these games like they plan NFL games, months in advance...we here in Chicago just dont know about that because the Bears have been so shitty

Okay, but a team in Quebec City would sell out 100% of its home games. Their ceiling may be low, but their floor is absurdly high.

I think a lot of those assumptions of sellouts are wrong. Islanders? Avs? Sharks? Those aren't huge road draws at all. They'll get the Western Canadians who pounced on foreclosed southwestern real estate or want a vacation, they'll get the Original Six fanbases, but people want this to be more than it's going to be. I guess I just don't share the love affair with Vegas that you and the NHL have. With Quebec City and Hamilton ready to hit the ground running, trying to make something out of nothing right now is irresponsible and disrespectful to the Canadian consumers who pay the freight for this league.

Haha, someone on Rogers Sportsnet said tonight that Foley and the Maloofs got 75 guys to buy 60 season-ticket packages apiece. This doesn't really paint the picture of a devoted local fanbase. If they force this Vegas thing down our throats any more, I might be sold as foie gras.
