Chris Mortensen vs. Dan Bernstein. It's on!!!!

http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/12453242/jay-cutler-quarterback-chicago-bears-2015

One source was adamant that there was "absolutely zero truth" to recent reports that Cutler was being actively shopped for trade.

Bernstein:

CSFMB:

Poor Jay Lester, he just can't catch a break. Even ESPN picks out the most dooftastic pic to accompany the article:

Bernstein will stand by his made up story. He'll say Morensen is a stooge. That the Bears are using him to keep the trade value up. Or so Cutler doesn't think their was trade talk if the Bears are forced to bring him back.

All lies. Bernstein got nationally wang whipped again.

If you don't think the Bears are trying to trade Cutler right now you are quite frankly an idiot.

It's a guessing game. Schefter and Cole say they haven't heard anything. Rapoport says the league knows he's available and the Titans are interested. Dan says they're pushing hard to trade him. No matter what happens, everybody's right in the end.

It isn't a guessing game. All you have to do is see how Cutler has been talked about by pretty much everyone who is now running the Bears.

The Bears have to officially deny it in case they can't trade him and decide to keep him. Mort even wrote it in a way that basically lays that out there by saying "one source". This keeps up the trade value more because if teams think he will be cut then they aren't giving up much.

@adamjahns: No need for this, but re: @mortreport on Cutler, two separate team sources say it will be very surprising if he isn't #Bears QB in 2015.

Cutler was apparently in the building last week working with Gase. And no way Terry has a Bears source, especially after all the changes.

I'm sure the Bears have listened, and would trade Cutler for the right price... But I'm also pretty confident Dan and Terry are making shit up.

This is from last Friday

@AlbertBreer: With Marshall gone, chances are Bears hang on to Jay Cutler. Was told Chicago didn't bring the QB in trade talks involving Marshall.

So you are saying the Bears aren't trying to trade Cutler because they haven't literally locked him out of the facility?

Of course he still may be the Bears QB in 2015. That is a big contract and at least so far they don't seem willing to simply release him. You can tell from how they have talked from the beginning though that they see a Cutlerless future for this team. It just may not be this year.

This is why the Fox/Gase/Fangio hires weren't the right move. They don't want to rebuild. Keeping Cutler means they think they can win in 2015.

Using 2015 as a transition year and getting a nice draft pick to draft Cutler's replacement is the way to go.

It's amazing how much of a fanboy you are of Dan that you literally can't entertain the option he's making shit up. :drunken: :alien:

Exactly. Which is why Bernstein, like always, is taking a stance that can not be proven incorrect.

I'm responding to your thoughts and not Dans. You cited the fact that Cutler was not barred from the building!

Yea, it's been in a bunch of articles today, like this one http://chicago.suntimes.com/bears-footb ... ree-agency.

It's meaningful. Are most players in the building this past week? I honestly don't know. I assumed it was somewhat of an exception.

That article was citing the Mort article.

I would guess almost every qb in the league is but especially with a new coaching staff.

The way they have talked for weeks though about him indicates that Cutler isn't the long term guy here.

I think they do want to rebuild but they're not going to go about it like the 76ers because it's the NFL. Maybe Fangio has wizardly powers and Gase thinks he can be the guy to get the most out of Jay, then become a head coach somewhere in 2016.

You said this a couple times on this page. They were non committal yes. I would love to see the quotes you have read that make it clear "they" do not want him.

It seems illogical to me to trade Marshall and not at least try to trade Cutler.

@Hub_Arkush: Knowledgeable analysts have reported for 2 months Cutler Bears QB in '15. Nothing's changed. No story here. Pace took time 'cause he could.

Definitely. But I'm sure Hub will giggle and backpedal his way out of any potential confrontation the next time he's on their show.

Or Hub will just say there was no chance of Cutler being traded and Dan will be silent because he doesn't put up much of a fight with their regular guests. He's not allowed to scream at or hang up on them and he doesn't know how to argue any other way.

Then after Hub's segment Dan will come back with some refutation of what Hub said, but it won't be brought up with Hub, ever.
