What did you expect to get back for Marshall? He needed to go and the Bears now get back 2 picks. A 4 and 7 isn't to shabby and may be all they could get.

Talked with Peoria Matt about this. Not optimum but you get rid of Marshall and you get the Jets fifth back. We had no fifth so getting heirs for our seventh which is generally useless fine by me. No idea on Cutler.

My understanding is the pick we received was 5th round.

Ah, well whatever, you still get a 4th round pick for an aging, WR that is always teetering on the edge of falling apart and doesn't think football is his priority. He also beats women and got his friend killed.

4th seems pretty good.

NEXT QUESTION.

Could we get this straight?

Marshall and the Bears 7th round pick for the Jets 5th round.

Yes. The Bears got screwed because the Jets knew that Marshall had to go. But they didn't want to risk him signing with someone else.

Oh, so HAWG was wrong?

But as far as the Bears spoiling the pot for Marhsall, I mean, every team knew that he had to leave the Bears. It wasn't like the Bears launching a PR campaign about Marshall being "THEIR GUY!!!" would have convinced anyone.

There is no fucking way anyone is going to take that salary on. Cutler is going nowhere unless they give him away. I think it's safe to say Emery was bidding against himself on that contract.

Relax. Cutler is gone next year. Marshall had virtually no value to any other NFL team, thus the Bears dumping him for a bag of balls.

Come on Scorehead: The fact that Cutler will be the starter in 2015 should be grounds for mass rebellion among Bears fans. Cutler's presence likely ensures that the Bears will not have a top 3-5 pick in the 2016 draft. In effect, this means that the Bears will be prevented from drafting a top QB prospect, which in turn means that keeping Cutler for 2015 will likely affect the team's trajectory for the next decade or more. Cutler is crap and everyone knows it. There's no reason to keep him on the roster. If he's untradeable, the Bears should cut him before his roster bonus kicks in.

Cleaning up the sins of the past. Losing Marshall is addition by subtraction. Any draft picks received are gravy.

Marshall has proven with 3 teams now that he peaks in year 1 and it all spirals down from there. Keeping him next season was not an option and the fact that they got ANY pick for him, is a good thing.

They can get Christian Hackenberg and we can be pissed that a young guy with a big arm is throwing picks rather than an old guy.

The same logic to keep Cutler this year also means they should keep him the year after.

That is what I just don't understand. They still owe him a bunch of money in 2016 if he is on the team this year. So, why not keep him in 2016 if you think he is worth keeping in 2015?

Meh, I'm confident we can lose plenty of games with Cutler.

Tho I'd be more than ok with them cutting him too.

I see a rebound season for Marshall, especially as he will be going up against Revis in practice now, and won't have Wild Jay hanging him out to dry.

Look, I'm with you. I'm not happy that Cjtler is here for another year. I was hoping they would just cut him and move on. I hate that we are stuck with this fuck for another season. I'd rather see Claussen or Fales play QB.
