The Bears and guard Vladimir Ducasse agreed to a one-year contract on Monday, giving the team some depth on the offensive line.

Ducasse, 27, spent last season with Minnesota, where he played in 13 games with six starts. Prior to that, he spent four seasons with the Jets after New York selected him in the second round of the 2010 draft out of UMass. From 2010-2012, he was a Jets teammate with current Bears lineman Matt Slauson.

Ducasse has played both right and left guard in his 63 career games, along with being a sixth-eligible lineman.

In 2014, the Bears battled injuries on the line. Chicago had nine different starting offensive line combinations, with no starter appearing in all 16 games.

Bears sign DE Jarvis Jenkins to 1-year deal.

It's not a surprise Jenkins didn't draw much interest in free agency. A 26-year-old who offers nothing as a pass rusher, Jenkins finished 45th out of 47 qualified 3-4 defensive ends in Pro Football Focus' 2014 rankings. He's serviceable against the run, but still received a negative grade in that area over 552 snaps last season. Chicago's cellar-dwelling defense didn't improve with this minimum-salary signing.

Earlier in the free agency signing period it appeared Ball would be headed to the Panthers with sources telling ESPN.com that he had agreed to a deal with the team, but he ended up leaving his visit to Charlotte without a contract.

Ball, who turns 30 on March 29, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round in 2007. He started seven games for the Jaguars last season before suffering a biceps injury and being placed on injured reserve. He had 22 tackles, one interception and three pass breakups before getting hurt.

The Jaguars signed Ball to a two-year, $1.67 million contract in 2013, and he immediately became the team's best corner. He led the team with 14 pass breakups and two interceptions in his first season with the team.

His best season in Dallas came in 2010 when he started 16 games, made 45 tackles, broke up six passes and intercepted two passes. However, he started just two games in 2011; his contract wasn't renewed after the season.

Ball signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans and played in 11 games (one start) before joining the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent.
