Bears just signed Royal & Rolle. I like Royal, but not sure what Rolle has left in the tank.

Hub is talking about the Bears picking Amari Cooper if he is there at #7. I want Pace to just go chalk and take the best player available. If that is Cooper, grab him. I'm not convinced that Alshon is a #1.

Vic Beasley would be nice too.

I watched Cooper play but didn't have a feeling for how fast he is.

4.42 40. He's faster than 8 of the top 10 WR prospects.

why are you putting this under free agent signings?

Good question. The answer is probably at the bottom of my 4th Martini.

The Bears and guard Vladimir Ducasse agreed to a one-year contract on Monday, giving the team some depth on the offensive line.

Ducasse, 27, spent last season with Minnesota, where he played in 13 games with six starts. Prior to that, he spent four seasons with the Jets after New York selected him in the second round of the 2010 draft out of UMass. From 2010-2012, he was a Jets teammate with current Bears lineman Matt Slauson.

Ducasse has played both right and left guard in his 63 career games, along with being a sixth-eligible lineman.

In 2014, the Bears battled injuries on the line. Chicago had nine different starting offensive line combinations, with no starter appearing in all 16 games.

quote from rotoworld on the signing -

Quote:
It's not a surprise Jenkins didn't draw much interest in free agency. A 26-year-old who offers nothing as a pass rusher, Jenkins finished 45th out of 47 qualified 3-4 defensive ends in Pro Football Focus' 2014 rankings. He's serviceable against the run, but still received a negative grade in that area over 552 snaps last season. Chicago's cellar-dwelling defense didn't improve with this minimum-salary signing.

probably too simplistic but when a d-end is great against the run doesnt that mean he isnt good enough to rush the QB? But if its for min salary and not much guaranteed money is involved nothing wrong with adding a body in camp with 3-4 experience

I do not know what this means. The 3-4 is funny. Should the ends get sacks? Yes. But here with the Steelers I could not tell you an end that led in sacks. There are about 30 famous OLB's though over the last 20 years.

So if Marshall was traded because of character issues, according to Bernstein, does the signing of McDonald prove him wrong?

Yup.

They can hide behind the "never charged with anything" defense.

Never charged with anything because lack of witnesses and a conveniently uncooperative fiance upon police questioning.

Really disgusting story.

I thought the other stuff on McDonald was guns/alcohol/dui not women. I know about this last thing where he is counter suing or whatever.

Ratliff had issues too right? Not excusing but wonder if guys simply can straighten up after potentially losing everything.

Beautiful!!! not endorsing scumbag behavior, but i'll take the ball player....team member's character won't impact the joy of the Lombardi trophy being placed in the glass casing at Hallas Hall one bit!!!

How many DE's do the Bears need? Someone's getting cut after the draft.

All three signings 1 yr, and young guys. None are awesome or anything, but excited to see what Fangio can do with them.

The Chicago Bears signed former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Alan Ball to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Former Jaguars CB Alan Ball signed a one-year deal with Bears on Friday, the team announced.
Earlier in the free agency signing period it appeared Ball would be headed to the Panthers with sources telling ESPN.com that he had agreed to a deal with the team, but he ended up leaving his visit to Charlotte without a contract.

Ball, who turns 30 on March 29, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round in 2007. He started seven games for the Jaguars last season before suffering a biceps injury and being placed on injured reserve. He had 22 tackles, one interception and three pass breakups before getting hurt.

The Jaguars signed Ball to a two-year, $1.67 million contract in 2013, and he immediately became the team's best corner. He led the team with 14 pass breakups and two interceptions in his first season with the team.

His best season in Dallas came in 2010 when he started 16 games, made 45 tackles, broke up six passes and intercepted two passes. However, he started just two games in 2011; his contract wasn't renewed after the season.

Ball signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans and played in 11 games (one start) before joining the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent.

So the Bears are going to sign bad players to 1 year contracts so they can ultra bad in 2015 which will ensure them a good draft pick?

Should've traded Cutler for nothing then.
