Burn.

Mully has on the head coach every now and then as he's the only one that cares. I haven't heard much from them since David Bailey from Westinghouse.

Why no more players from Westinghouse and CVS? Those were the days. They all transfer to King or Simeon now?

Damn. Read that as Bob Sirott. Ah, someone call United Auto Insurance and get JoBo to start a rumor.

So in the end, The Score and WGN basically traded Connor for Jordan. Jordan is probably less annoying. So the Score won the trade.

Jordan is a huge upgrade from the arrogant little asswipe Wayne Randazzo.

He does sound very un-Score. He reads copy clearly and doesn't go up his own ass with dumb jokes, which he then repeats word-for-word 30 minutes later so a new audience can not-laugh at them.

One thing I got today was no Drinky now on B&B unless he is off? Or the new guy puts him back in his corner?

It's a composite. You know, like New York magazine does.

He does like to repeat the bad joke in case somebody missed it. What's worse with drinky is when he explains the bad joke, as if people couldn't pick it up. Wants to make sure people appreciate the bad joke.

Drinky really is a dolt.

I'm enjoying listening to Jordan Bernfield tonight filling in for Les. Sure he's a little vanilla, but he's a big upgrade from Les.

I liked listening to Les Grobstein's show during his first stint on The Score. But after he was fired from The Score in 2001 for the alleged misuse of the press credential, I don't know why the station bosses thought it would be a good idea to re-hire him again.

I get the sense that Mitch, for whatever his faults may be, was looking out for Les and wanted to give an old veteran another chance. Mitch also gets the importance of doing live/local overnights when no one else can bother. If you think Les should be blacklisted from Chicago radio for messing with Julie Sweica's press pass, then I guess you're an even better radio historian than Mitch is.

I've always heard bits and pieces about the Les/Sweica/Press Pass story. Can somebody please whiteboard this thing?

A few months back I heard on The Score a clip where a caller brought up the issue of his firing to Les Grobstein, and Les sounded defiant. It is hard for me to have sympathy for someone who is not willing to be contrite. I think the clip was played on the Mully & Hanley show.

Les had a perfectly logical explanation. It wasn't a big deal and it was at least 10 years ago, probably more. Julie proved herself to be the demented one in that story. I say that being a person who liked her work at the station.

What was Les's explanation? I've never heard it. And how did Sweica prove herself to be "demented?" I'm intrigued.

Did that really happen?

Weren't there rumors about Sweica and Bevington at one point?

How deep would you like me to go (and I have comparatively superficial knowledge)? She blew Bevington. The Sharp stuff is innocuous when you consider the implications of that action.

The Les explanation is here somewhere.

Management was looking to get rid of him in a cost cutting period at the Score. Those were the days of the station being dominated by paid for bookie shows on Saturday and Sunday mornings and no local programming after 5 pm during the week. Les' use of the ticket was used as pretext to his firing.

Why the hell would she get involved with Bevington? A player I can see. But Bevington? That's always struck me as a really odd story.
