Retiring over fear of head trauma, that is a major blow to the 49ers with Willis retiring also. Do all

First pick is in middle of the draft. Wonder if they try to move up to get Gregory, Beasley or Ray.

Hawg appears to have suffered his own head trauma mid-sentence.

When you return, bring back the running pig avatar. I miss him.

Not bad, kind of like he's casually walking away from the flames.

Running-in-place pig had a look of bewilderment.

Interesting news, especially in the wake of a couple of other guys calling it quits early in their careers this offseason. I could see this happening more and more
as we learn more about the CTE stuff. If a guy can get in and play 5-6 years and get out injury free with a nice chunk of money why wouldn't
you consider walking away while you still feel like you have your health?

You are right but only one year surprises me.

I would never fault a player for wanting to get out, just like I would never condemn a person for wanting to play.

I'd agree, he had a bright future ahead of him but who knows how many hits he took in college and even last year?

I read that he said he played through a concussion this past preseason and that scared him to some degree.

But then in the same article he mentions that he only had 2 concussions, 1 in the 8th grade playing basketball and 1 in the 11th grade playing football.

Had to be a tough decision for him to make but he is still a very young guy with his whole life ahead of him. I give him credit for making the hard choice.

One less person taking years of their life for Dan to gleefully watch because his kid is just a goalie.

In the past week four NFL players, age 30 or under, have retired from football: Chris Borland (age 24), Jason Worilds (age 27), Jake Locker (age 26), and Patrick Willis (age 30).

Yes that is what I typed.

That is like saying someone was only caught speeding twice.

It obviously happened way, way, way more than that. The story that slowly seems to be coming out of how many NFL players are getting memory loss in a majority of the games they play. That really is the scariest stuff. Lots of stories of guys who couldn't recall whole drives and some who can't tell you what happened for quarters or halves.

Ok, to me that's like saying someone was only in two car acccidents.

Thanks for clarifying.

Quit? That's worse than ESPN saying only 2 concussions. He retired.

I would still say he quit, if he had played longer I would say retired, but that is just me.
