Really enjoyed it, brought back a lot of good memories from that time period.

I loved Laettner because of that shot against Kentucky.

I hated Kentucky and watched that game with a room full of Kentucky fans. I was the only one there not rooting for them. When they hit the shot with 2 secs to go they were talking so much trash and running their mouths. Then Laettner hit the game winner and it got crazy quiet in an instant. It was AWESOME!

I never realized he was that damn tall....6'11.

He has also physically and vocally morphed into bill simmons.

plus 1. Yeah I was one of the few Laettner fans myself and I couldn't stand Kentucky either. Was great when he hit that shot.

Was it just me or did it seem like Grant Hill isn't a member of the Christian Laettner Fan Club. That is the impression I got

I remember watching the game as a kid. I didnt have a rooting interest but it was awesome.

Was a shame that Mashburn fouled out.

Was a Duke fan at the age of five watching Johnny Dawkins. Loved Laettner but this would be a different story if he had been ejected for stomping on Aminu Timberlake.

I had the opportunity to meet and interview Christian Laettner recently.
He is a huge fan of muskie fishing and seemed like a really good guy.

Greenberg had Laettner on to discuss it last week. Laettner had mentioned that the most memorable part of playing on the dream team was actually the one on one games he played after practice. Instead of asking about who he played among like 10 of the best 30 players to have ever lived and how he did against said players, Greenberg just ignored it and asked some stupid question about something unrelated. That moment right there defines 99.9% of sports talk radio and why the only way to enjoy it is to not listen to it.

I was a big Laettner and Duke fan back then, but I turned this show off after about 10 minutes cause it was so cheesily made I couldn't get over it. Having Laettner nowadays walk into an arena with 20 screaming fans yelling at him? WTF was that? Then they started talking about hard working america and they show a lady construction worker riveting something. At that point I had enough.

Did it get any better or did the shoddy production values continue?

Yep. Most guys have no clue about what a fan might like to hear. And they are woefully unprepared for the interview.

I specifically remember an instance where Mully and Hanley had John Malkovich on as Malkovich was promoting Secretariat. They babbled about some horse racing stuff that none of them had a clue about. Talked a little about movies, etc. But I know just from reading the papers that Malkovich is a huge hoops fan, especially IHSA basketball. He would show up in West side gyms to wacth those good King teams in the late 80s/early 90s. Plus he grew up in the same small town as Doug Collins and around the same time. There was a lot of good conversation to be had, but Mully and Hanley just aren't capable.

I thought it was interesting that this documentary contained no comments from Stacey Augmon or Larry Johnson about the NCAA tournament games against Laettner's Duke teams. I remain convinced UNLV threw the 1991 Final Four game against Duke.

I've watched that game more times that I can count. If they threw it, they did an awfully good job of hiding it in the game.

Seriously? Based on what and why would they do that?

There was also no mention of the many people who have sued him (including Johnny Dawkins). http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball- ... 27065.html

Did I understand correctly that he and Brian Davis used to walk around campus holding hands, giving rise to the gay rumors? That was very odd. The footage of him owning Mourning and Shaq as freshman was pretty good though. As was the high school playoff melee.

I'm assuming he figures they were paid off.

There was the hot tub frolic with the gambler just before the tourney started, and didn't Greg Anthony foul out of that Final Four game. (there were questionable fouls calls, but he seemed overly-aggressive iirc)

I hated Danny Ferry more. HE was Laettner v1.0, without the heart.

Pity.

He did nothing to live up to the ESPN hype. But on the bright side (I think) he was there when the Great Coach K bailed on his team.

neither Stacey or Larry was in the tub, correct? And Greg did foul out but that guy was always an aggressive defender, it's why he intimidated Hurley the year before. Duke had a better plan of attack the second time around.

Parks was like Bryant Reeves with way less talent. People forget there was then Erik Meeks...

I apologai. I really was off with which players were in the tub with Sam Perry. Age is a bitch.

He was normally aggressive(as they all were), but I thought he just played stupidly aggressive in spurts in that game. Especially for a team with no real backup PG option.

I've always hated Duke, but never really directed it any specific players. That being said, I hated Laetner for his stupid hair.
