Anyone else really excited for the NBA start tonight? Portland/San Antonio, Golden State/Utah, and LA/Houston, with the first and last game being the doubleheader on ESPN. Itll be nice to finally get a look at Houston and Kobe's always interesting. I wish they televised the Utah/GS game instead of Portland/SA, but the Spurs are still fun to watch.

Yeah, really pumped, especially for the Utah/GS game. Really excited to see how GS responds to last years success, especially playing Utah out of the gate. This will definitely be my main game, however LA/Houston should be good too

I don't think the 1st game will be too exciting with the combination of Oden missing and the Spurs in general. Probably take a nap if I can then so I'm fresh for the late games

Yeah I dont have the NBA package anymore, so Im stuck with way less games than usual, thats why I was hoping the GS/Utah game would be on. Without Stephen Jackson, who is vastly underrated, Im not sure if GS can hang with Utah, he would have torn their SG up. Im interested to see if AK really made up with Sloan and has a bounce back year, or if it was all talk.

My team is the Bulls....Through Thick N Thin.

I'm ready to roll...got my NBA League Pass, gotta love it!

Should be a fun season - lots of interesting teams to watch - Detroit, Chicago, Orlando, even Atlanta with all their athletic freaks, Phoenix, Dallas, GS (I haven't mentioned SA though I do respect them).

I think they could surprise if they can get some decent point guard play.

Duncan just signed a 2 year extension. I very highly doubt he will ever leave the Spurs and have one of those Hakeem on the Raptors experiences. Seems like a Spur for life.

Atlanta will be very interesting. I think they have potential to win 40-45 games this season considering their division. I dont think the Magic are that good, ditto with the Heat.

Cleveland seems kind of boring to me, even more "1 man team" than last season, and I can see a letdown year coming.

I wish I had League Pass so I could watch the Celtics on a nightly basis. They looked real damn good in the preseason.

The Sunz and the Bullz are my to favorites, but some other teams I'll be following are:

Utah (Boozer is the truth)
Boston (KG - the NBA's most complete player)
Toronto (Chris Bosh bitch!)
Orlando (Dwight Howard bitch!)
Cleveland (praying that they don't make the playoffs)
Seattle (Kevin Durant)

Toronto once again will be the most overlooked team in the NBA this season. Bargnani looks like he could be really solid, Bosh is obviously a beast, their PG combo looks solid going into the year. If Boston hadnt looked so good so far I would have said I could see them easily competing for the division, but its a tough one this year.

So is Deron Williams, my guy.

i hate them to death but you're probably right.

they're doing to him what minnesota did with kevin garnett.

Cleveland (praying that they don't make the playoffs)

it's still lebron and then nobody.

Seattle (Kevin Durant)

i'd like to see seattle get back into relevance. i'd also like to see Atlanta do the same. For nostalgia sake.

Damn, that kinda sucks.

Andre Miller came on strong at the end of last year, and he could have a really good year this year imo. Gotta love Iguodala, but he needs to continue to take the next step. Dalembert has the talent to be a top Center in the east, so if they can play hard every night, they have enough talent to at least make them competitive. Not sure how good Thaddeus Young will be yet.

well, they're never gonna win anything with willie green and kyle korver as your shooting guards. dalembert fouls out too much but he does grab rebounds. young's going to be a work in progress, but i still don't know why they thought they needed him. carney's been the invisible man.

miller's been fine. i just wish he was a bit younger so they could build around him and iguodala. don't know how long they'll have miller.

I think the Spurs will take care of business, but Portland might surprise some people. Roy and Aldridge are a good start, and they have enough role players around them to be competitive on a nightly basis.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if Aldridge has a breakout year. Looks promising

Same old Warriors- couldn't hit FT's, couldn't stop Boozer, couldn't rebound, took too many 3's.

Problem is anytime they play a team with a bruising frontcourt- Jazz, Spurs for instance, they're going to have a real hard time- they just don't match up well.

By the way, really impressed (not that I wasn't already from the playoffs last year) with Milsap and Brewer. Really solid guys, play within themselves. Seem like perfect fits for Sloan's system

Exactly the point - those teams are going to kill them on the boards.

Some observations from last night:

- AK47 might be back. Didnt shoot well, but he played 40 minutes and played great defensively, which is what they need from him. Great all around game with 9 rebs, 8 dimes, and 5 blks. He might be out of the doghouse.

-Lamarcus Aldridge is going to be an awesome scorer. Would have liked him to rebound more last night, but he scored at will on one of the best post defenders in the league.

-I still think Portland will be pretty competitive with most teams this year, and would probably be a playoff team in the East, but their interior defense was awful last night. Im not talking about Duncan, obviously hes great, but they allowed way too many open layups on inbound passes, were way too slow rotating on defense, and often let Manu or Tony just drive right by them and get free in the lane.

-Travis Outlaw could become productive. Hes really active out there, and if he can hone his game, because hes still pretty raw, then he can become a solid contributor on defense and all the intangibles. Portland might have the best outlook of any team for the next decade.

-Steve Blake should start over Jarrett Jack.

-Rafer Alston and Mike James looked good. They should keep Francis pouting and on the bench. Ditto for Tmac, but since its october and not June, that should be expected.

-Yao continues his dominance. It understandably took him a few years, but hes come a long way since getting schooled by Marbury.

-I like Ronny Turiaf alot. Plays with da P & F and seemed to genuinely like playing with Kobe. I think the rift between Kobe and the rest of the team is very over-reported. I saw last night what I saw the past 3 years, Kobe playing center stage with a weak supporting cast and doing his best to steal a game from a superior team. He needs to shoot his FTs better though.

-Luke Walton could improve his game alot this year. He looks comfortable playing 35 MPG and has a nice all around game that could suit playing with Kobe.

-Derek Fisher might keep us from seeing the young PG's the Lakers have drafted for a couple years. He looks as good as ever.

-Deron and Boozer deserve all the accolades they have been receiving. Both will make a serious push for an already really overcrowded West All Star team.

-Baku touched on it, but Millsap could be a beast. Between Okur, Boozer, Millsap, and AK47, I can see them beating the Spurs in a 7 game series. I dont think they will, but its definitely not as hard to imagine as many casual fans suspect.

-Golden State will be fine with Jackson back. He would have tore up Brewer and you cant blame a team for losing to a great team when they dont even have their second best player.

He did come on defensively in the 2nd quarter with the blocks. He looked pretty bad in the 1st quarter offensively, shot was way off. But you're right about the all-around game, he can contribute a lot of different ways. But it seemed to be his shot wasn't always that bad

Yeah he definitely used to score more, but coming off such a bad year last year, Im not as worried about that. If he has a shot still, it will come. They have more than enough scoring with Brewer, Boozer, Deron, etc. AK47 is the best all-around player on the team, and along with Deron, helps blend the rest of the talent on the team together.

Now that Malone & Stockton are gone, I'm really starting to appreciate how great of a coach Sloan is. Not that I didn't think he was before, but I think I just got jaded. Everyone seems to fit well into his system, you never heard of primadonna type behavior on his teams, and they all play within their roles.

Isn't he the longest-tenured coach in the NBA right now? That alone is impressive. It seems most coaches in most sports have a three-year window to get things done. Sloan's teams are always competitive.
