Never one to be late to the party but I cant stop listening to " Do You" by Spoon. Also "Anna" by Will Butler .

Edit: Also because Im ya know old, the lovely guitar in Gordon Lightfoot's " Beautiful " has been getting several plays. Great song.

Whenever I hear that song I always think of "The Boat Song" by Ike Reilly which I think is a hell of a lot better:

This is a good one. But nothing will ever match Don't You Evah for me.

I thought it was pretty good. I guess they are already back in the studio working on the next one. Probably give it another spin in the afternoon.

I don't believe it. It was exactly 8 years between their last two studio albums.

Then again...maybe they have enough written for another one.

Modest Mouse songs grow on you. Minus their catchy single or two on every album...the rest take a few listens for me to like or dislike.

I think 'Pistol' might be their most eclectic song to date. And that is saying a ton.

Magick Spells by GATEWAY DRUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This record is pretty damn good, and they were great live.
Saw them open for Swervedriver in Madison last friday, and talked to all 4 of them.
3 of them are siblings and their father was the bass player for The Knack.
Not your typical disaffected pretentious L.A. rich kids........I'm a fan.

Listening to Viet Cong at the moment. It's pretty good.
I get the Interpol comparison Spanky made, I hear a little Oneida in there too, which makes sense
that they're on Jagjaguwar.
But I came here mostly to post that Gateway Drugs, Swervedriver, and The Church will be livestreamed tonight from SXSW.

"Fridays Are for Suckers" is a nice little tune.

I know almost next to nothing about Modest Mouse, (I've read that the singer got his jaw broke for talking shit or something) but the 1:30 samples on iTunes have me intrigued.
And that's a really cool album cover.

By the way, the new Courtney Barnett is even better than her first one.
There are several gut-punch songs on that thing.

In a good way. She is SUCH a good songwriter
