Wrong.

He met with Ray and talked to his parents. Due dilligence would include maybe looking at the text exchanges between Ray and a victim, which somehow Jason Goff was able to unearth. But George didn't want to delve that deeply.

I wonder why Ray wasn't snapped up by some other team?

Exactly, everyone else missed the information George had...remember George read the file! ooooohhhhhh...and maybe the other teams didnt call Rays mom...PLUS The Kicker....Ray paid for his own ticket to fly to Chicago!

“He talked about growing up and his parents and his playing career,’’ McCaskey said. “And then he talked about these incidents which have become public knowledge. And he walked me through each one. And I don’t want to get too much into the particulars. I just want to give you a sense of the conversation.

“And I was impressed with how sincere he was and how motivated he is. He understands, I think, that he could have well been facing the end of his football career. And he loves football. And he wants that career to continue. So I was impressed with his motivation.’’

McDonald told McCaskey to call his former college coach, Urban Meyer, whose Florida program was subject to dozens of arrests during his six-year tenure there. Smart move by McDonald. Meyer is one of the few people with less off-field credibility than McDonald."

Due diligence personified.

He wanted to play for Fangio.

Why didn't he go see any other team. The Cowboys did sign Greg Hardy the day before.

I really dont have the energy to address all that Seacrest has wrong here.....but lets hear why he was released Dec 17, 2014...and remained unsigned until now?

I thought that you said he went through league files on McDonald?

Btw, how many people have you ever hired in your life?

How many 1985 Bears slapped their wives/girlfriends around? I'll say half. I know. Different times.

Still, George told McDonald that the Chicago Bears have a high standard for player behavior. Or something like that. No, Goerge. You've had the same percentage of bad guys as the rest of the league. Some known. Many not.

Uhhh..no I didn't say that. And league files would be a great source for unbiased opinions on domestic violence.

And what does my hiring background have to do with George McCaskey? The player told George anything he could to get a paycheck. Due dilligence my ass. If he reads the text exchange that Goff somehow got his hands on, but George couldn't locate, he doesn't change his mind. As soon as George agrees to take the meeting, the deal is already sealed.

You are referring to a team that won the Super Bowl 30 years ago. Show some respect.

1. Ditka was/is a scumbag. Google the deadspin article.

2. Richard Dent was a druggie.

3. Walter Payton had 100 tanks in his garage at all times.

4. Dan Hampton has about 12 DUIs.

5. Mike Richardson was a druggie.

6. Dave Duerson hit his wife.

Just off the top of my head.

Somehow the issue of Ray being a free agent for 3 months and NOBODY even bringing him in to talk to him is ignored...or better yet, explained by SeaCaskey as 'he wanted to play for Fangio"

Solid theory, you should call in with that one.

If you had a hiring background of any kind, you would know and possibly understand that it's not an exact science.

He did read the league files. The text messages are available and I would bet, part of that file.

If he doesn't sign him and he has a monster year, then you and your master are back here next December screaming he was an idiot for not signing him.

You said that the Bears have the same amount as any other team. They obviously don't.

Shit, the Cowboys have Brent and Hardy.

Lance Briggs got in a DUI wreck and walked away from his car. Lied and said his car was stolen. Then came clean, said he wrecked it but wasn't drunk. So he wasn't charged.

And yet he went unsigned until the sleuth McCaskey stepped up. Why would that be? Hell, even Oakland passed.

Hell, even Pace passed for the longest time. Then I think he said, what the fuck, I'll run it past George. I WANT TO WIN. I DON"T NEED MY SOUL. Cuz this went down in the last week. Pace knew he was good and out there. He didn't go after him a month ago. He did now cuz he knew he could get a good player on the cheap since no other teams were gonna touch him.

So he did his due diligence and decided to give McDonald a chance.

So we are clear, you have a problem because he consulted the team owner, or because he decided to give a chance?

Just don't say you talked to him and his parents and decided it was good. Just say you looked into it and thought he was worth a one year deal since no charges have been filed. That's all.

Talking to him and his parents makes you look stupid.

No need for George to change his mind. Ray McDonald is not going to propel the Bears to a title. If he was that type of player, he would have been signed. Totally unnecessary distraction. I'm going to assume that Fangio was pushing for this.

He was asked a question about consulting the team owner, and he answered it.

That is some masterful backpedaling.

Well, well....sure he COULD have signed him on his own.......he just decided to get the OK from ownership. But other than that, he controls all football decisions.

How does he hit send on that? Chose to have highter green lighting is fucking awesome

Did he tweet that before, or after the presser with McCaskey?
