First circus trip above .500 since the Jordan era (I think)

Kobe Bryant does NOT become a Bull

Deng signs an extension today, Gordon does not

Deng makes the all-star team, Gordon does not.

Bulls are bounced in the second round again despite the #1 seed by the Raptors.

If they do get Kobe, I think it would before the trade deadline, but I'm not holding my breath.

Full NBA/Bulls predictions.

Bulls - 53-29, win Central Division

Noah averages 6 ppg, 6 rpg, 1 bpg in 24 mpg when healthy.

Bulls dont get Kobe this year.

Surprise player on the Bulls: Thablo

NBA

MVP - Kevin Garnett

DPOY - Marcus Camby

ROY - Kevin Durant

Surprise Team: Atlanta Hawks

Dissapointing Team: Orlando Magic

Spurs over Jazz in 6 in the Western Finals
Bulls over Celtics in 7 in the Eastern Finals

Spurs over Bulls in 6 in the NBA Finals.

Surprise Player: Rondo. I think he averages 7-8 apg this year while working on his all around game. Could potentially average something like 10 ppg, 10 apg, 6 rpg, 2 spg in a couple years.

Not a damn thing, and that was painfully obvious last night. 46 wins (sans Kobe, I'll give em 49 with) and a quick exit from the playoffs.

You think adding Kobe is only good for 3 more wins? If they had Kobe they would have won that game last night

If you look at the numbers, they were a lot better than their record showed last year. They had the highest point differential in the Eastern Conference last year, which would have suggested that they were a 55 win team instead of a 49 win team. There haven't been any major changes, but they still were a pretty good team last year, and should see some minor improvements from their young guys.

If they had Kobe, no one else that was part of the late rally would be on this team. Who knows what Kobe and a bunch of benchers would have done last night. You can't say that with Kobe they would have won, becuase it's not as simple as the same situation+Kobe.

Well no, of course not. What did happen though, is they were in a close game late that they failed to close out and win. With Kobe, chances are pretty good they would have won- he's an incredibly clutch player. You can argue they never would have got to that point, which it seems you are, but that's a different argument. Plus, you are oversimplifying but saying that it would be "Kobe and a bunch of benchers". Obviously they would still have some combination of Deng, Gordon, Hinrich, Nocioni, Wallace after the trade, it's not like they'd have Kobe and 11 busters

Yup. And that's been the story with this group for the last couple of years. Last year, they specialized in blowing leads of 17 points and sometimes more. I see nothing changing unless something changes.

Huh? They'd have to trade Wallace, Noch, and probably (maybe) Hinrich. Who do they trade for Kobe in your scenario if everyone you mentioned is off the table?

I said "some combination", meaning that yes, some of that group would be gone but also that some of it would remain. Was that not clear?

No it wasn't clear. Some combination could mean just about anything.

Don't take it personal Baku. I have this thing with people in sports who say "we woulda won if it weren't for (fill in the blank)" because they have no goddamn clue what woulda happened. You can't change a single variable and expect everything else to end up the same. Don't work that way.

I'm not taking it personally, just enjoying some good banter

And of course you can't just change one variable, I understand that. But the Bulls have shown a lack of a go-to scorer at times in the clutch. Sure, Ben Gordon has hit some buzzer beaters but Kobe is clearly much better at creating his own shot. Kobe would certainly fill that need.

He was able to get the Lakers to the playoffs in the tougher Western conference, essentially by himself. Yes they have Odom but that's about it. Of course it's difficult to speculate based on who would be involved in the trade, but I could almost guarantee whoever was left on the Bulls team after the trade would be better than his supporting casts in LA
