From the Sun-times radio news column by Robert Feder today:

Jonathan Hood, the newest addition to ESPN Radio's sports/talk WMVP-AM (1000), is headed for Fairbanks, Alaska, this week to cover the UIC Flames in the 10th annual Top of the World Classic basketball tournament.
"Please forward any chicken or ribs my way to Fairbanks," Hood said. "The moose and seal sandwiches can only go so far."

I wonder if he and Les Grobstein will share a room?!

I think it would be a nice gesture from the brothers and white fans alike to fedex a few kryopacks of goodies from the Robinson's and Harold's (although I realize that the opinions on the "best" ribs and chicken differ vastly among the regular posters) to Hood in Fairbanks. It would also be a great marketing move by the above establishments.

why is ESPN wasting money to send Hood to Alaska to cover a second rate college basketball team. Nobody cares about UIC until tourny time. And even then it's not a great interest. I know they have tournaments in Alaska so black players have been to Alaska. But I think Hood might be the first black, non basketball player, ever to grace the shores of Alaska.

I agree taa. It would be great marketing for any Chicken or Ribs restaurant to send Hood a care package. Carson's & Smokey Bones perhaps? These are my personal favorites!

Hey, Larry Holmes is posting here again!

And I think we should send Hood some WHITE food instead of the stereotype stuff he wants. How about a nice Jewish deli since Hood's anti-white and maybe a little anti-semite? And we'll have it delivered by: Rick Telander!

HOOD ANTI-WHITE? ANTI-SEMITE? Are you sure you don't have him confused with North's guy who was fired?

I'm Jewish and think that the sending a deli sandwhich would be great. Let's make it an ethnic buffet!

Lastly LH should concentrate on snuggling up to his former agent turned PD. It seems the station has become a practice ground for college radio types.

Uh, well maybe I am being too harsh... my apologies to aspiring college radio students, I am sure you are doing a much better job than the so called professionals at the snore!

Why is it necessary to bash this fine young man with stereotypes ?

Dude, Hood is the one who advanced the stereotype by saying that he wanted chicken and ribs sent to him in Alaska.

Yes, he did but as an African American, he has already suffered enough injustices without anyone else having to pile out his battered ego.

That's fantastic. I loved Jiggs' Shaq impersonation, too.

Hood advances the stereo type further during the ESPN promo commercial when he says in ebonics "the brothas aint gonna believe this" and "I'm goin where, Alaska, Hewlllllll Nooooo"

If black people are against stereotypes, then they should be upset with Hood for portraying them with the promos and the chicken and rib comment to Feder

You are exactly right. Black people need to learn how to speak proper english. They need to stop dressing like Hood rats. Now if you will excuse me I need to right my child support checks for my Illegitimate Kids

I went to N.D. I am a proud black athlete who tries to be a role model to young black children. I was offended by the comments of Paul Horning and Joe Peterno. Hold on a second, the wife is getting out of line. I"ll be right back.........

I imagine the cost of a room in Fairbanks Alaska in late November has to be pretty reasonable.

Hood is playing up to stereotypes again.
We all know he grew up as the dorky fatass black guy that the cool black guys beat the living crap out of.

But on the radio when he's on with a brother, he's all "yes yall" "ooweeeee" and crap like that.
The guy is an oreo cookie, but pretends like he's a playa playa by
making these ridiculous stereotype remarks to convince himself that
he isn't a sellout.

He needs to stop playing up to stereotypes and pay his damn bills too.
Quit perpetratin JONATHAN "call me Jay cause it sounds more street" Hood.
