Yeah he does. What the hell would you call it? A proper British accent?

Lots of teams carry a third goalie but they can only dress two per game.

At least the Hawks are still playing and not doing rails at the pool in vegas.

Sure, for now.

Committed Indian taking the expected anti-meatball stance:

Quote:
–I guess we should broach this whole goalie thing which is taking on levels of stupid that usually are reserved for the gridiron in this city.

First of all, I don’t know when “riding the hot hand” became a goalie that had one really nice game. Let’s remember this: In the final 20 games when Joel Quenneville desperately needed the Hawks to gain points in the standings, he turned to Corey Crawford 17 of those times and only used Scott Darling in back-to-back situations or meaningless games.

This isn’t an ’08-09 situation when he alternated between Nikolai Khabibulin and Cristobal Huet or a ’09-10 situation where he shielded Antii Niemi with favorable starts until he ultimately turned to him. Scott Darling was an absolute afterthought and no one ever said “HEY WHAT ABOUT PLAYING DAT LOCAL GUY WHO SPENT 15 YEARS LIVING IN DA SUBURBS BUT HAS ALSO LIVED JUST AS MUCH TIME OUT OF DA GREAT STATE OF ILLINOIS, MY FRENTS.”

If Corey Crawford has proved anything, it’s that he deserves the benefit of the doubt. We can literally go down the list of times he’s bounced back from stinkbombs if that would make any one feel better. But I really don’t think this warrants that.

Tpyical Team Bernstein mentality. When your goalie is an astonishingly bad 38/47 and 6.75 through two games, who gets the hardest treatment? That's right, the fans! BRAP BRAP DIS DAT DA DA DITKA FRENTS BEARSE. Yeah, Crawford played well down the stretch, which was magnified by the fact that no one else on his team did. But this wasn't just a bad game. This was a complete meltdown to end the game. Crawford earned the benefit of the doubt going into game 2. He lost it. I don't think that's ridiculous.

Well last night don't make that list.

Math a simple concept
Crawford 4 periods 9 goals
Darling 4 periods 0 goal

I just loved that dance logic....if you keep Crawford in the net ....you'll leave the dance early and windup spanking the monkey. With Darling you can stay the whole dance and might get a hummer on the way homre

Yeas I almost laughed at the enphatic no above. They call the third the x or something.

Yeah, I remember when that was the go-to meme for ripping Patrick Lalime, whose plays-well-and-wins-but-actually-sucks profile is, come to think of it, remarkably similar to Crawford's.

I'm a guy who thought Crawford should've won the Conn Smythe in '13. That said, Darling has to be between the pipes Sunday.

I'm in Traverse City this weekend. It sucked being the only 2 Hawk fans (me and my wife)cheering. Not that it was pro Nashville. More anti Blackhawk. When Sharp scored, I screamed, "YES!" It was like an EF Hutton commercial.

At the end of the game, a young 20-something kid said while pointing at the screen, "How'd Chicago do?"

My response: "It's only 1 game but what about 2013? 2010? That's 2 since you last won one. Oh, and thanks for game 7 in 2013."

His friend was laughing at my slick burns and ushered his friend away.

I admire the Red Wing organization, but homey don't play dat.

The teams that do well in the NHL playoffs are the teams that get hot at the right time. The fact that Crawford won a cup means nothing during this years playoffs. What he did 2 years ago doesn't matter. What does matter is what he has done lately. You gotta go with the hot hand and start Darling.

Then you can't feel good about a team that has been utterly harassed out of its precious few minutes of puck possession, no matter who the goalie is.

Hawks haven't won a game by two goals since April 2nd in Vancouver. They edged by Buffalo after barfing up a lead and having it barfed right back to them, then lost four straight games in regulation, then the overtime win in game 1, then the blowout last night. That's not getting hot at the right time.

Like I said...you gotta play the hot hand over the guy who has been just dreadful.

But the thing is that Crawford hadn't been dreadful coming in at all. If he had been, they would have lost those BLues/Wild games by more than one goal. This whole roster is shit right now, really.

I was just coming back here to mention that. That's a great stroke of luck for the Hawks, though it probably just means Anton Volchenkov will slot back in, and he's no slouch. Honestly, Roman Josi has been a bigger threat than Weber so far.

I want Vermette in for game 3, with either Nordstrom or Versteeg sitting. I swear I do not get the Joakim Nordstrom thing. He's a plug.

Red Wings do training camp up around there. Good spots to check out,

Right Brain Brewery

The Filling Station

The Workshop Brewing Company, which is back off of Front St where Right Brain used to be.

In a town that aspires to be "foodie" the go to foodie spots [ Trattoria Stella, Cook's House, Amical etc ] are underwhelming/overpriced.

The best restaurant up there, Xylo Cafe, closed last fall--Right Brain moving from right next door to them hurt.

Harvest is good for brunch/lunch: https://www.facebook.com/TCHarvest

Frenchie's Famous, prolly an even more insufferable place to eat now that Mario Batali pimps it.

Brady's Bar is a good beer and a shot spot that also has tasty bar food. Burgers and chili and fish and chips and such are all tasty:

http://www.yelp.com/biz/bradys-traverse-city

I never had a problem there but sounds like they aren't tourist friendly.

I watched a Hawks playoff game in Traverse last year. Virtually the entire sports bar, then our hotel bar, were Hawks fans.

I hope Darling stands on his head. He will start until he struggles, which may not happen.

We loved Trattoria Stella. As soon as we drove up, I said it looked like an asylum. I was right!

We thought the food was great and didn't think it was overpriced.

Bubba's had great burgers. Loved the Bay Bread Company's cinnamon rolls.

We loved TC. We've been partial to South Haven but TC was great, too. At Mackinaw Brewing right now. The havarti cheese sticks are killer. As is their Dopple Bock.
