He killed this albino 14 point buck [with his bare hands] after downing an entire bottle of cherry schnapps.

I wasn't around to see him play. They didn't keep sack totals prior to 1982. I heard that one year Doug had like 20 sacks when they went back to review the film. This was in a 14 game season. Somebody said he at least had 10-15 sacks a year for his first 10 years of his career.

Doug calling Bernsie "Dictionary Face" back around '99 or 2000 after Dan said that the Bears season was over after three games.

I think Doug told a story about a close encounter he had back in Pennsylvania. He was really serious about it too.

Well, then. That both Doug and OB appear to have encountered aliens (one during a Bears postgame!) just makes the show that much more special.

On Mac & Spiegs Doug was on when Spiegs thought he was joking about enjoying those discovery show type alien shows. Doug was dead serious and recounted a time in Pennsylvania he had a run in with aliens. I don't remember the details but Doug was 100% a true believer.

This is the kind of day that I like having Bernsie in the drivers seat. He's good at it. Make the remainder a tribute show.

Dan was the one guy in his entire Score existence who I got the feeling Doug did not like

The Teletubbies were popular when Buffone's twins were of the age at which kids would be watching them, and he HATED Po. Hearing him talk about how the other characters didn't bother him, but "Oh God, I hate Po..." was hilarious.

Bears can retire 55 for Doug Buffone, Otis Wilson and Lance Briggs.

Not John Roper, though.

"Let's go out to...Black. I don't know where you're from, Black, but you're on the air" is one of the funniest Score lines ever.

I could see that. But I'm sure Doug had measure of professional respect for him.

Every week!

Sunday Night - Worst team ever! never going to win another game!
Monday - Still bad, doesnt see how they can get better by Sunday.
Tuesday - Breaksdown evetything they need to work on.
Wednesday - Not saying they are going to win, but if they can run the ball and play good defense, they can keep it close
Thursday - If they can keep it close, then they have chance to win at the end, not a good chance, but still a chance.
Friday - They can win this game if they control the game and dont make dumb plays.
Saturday - They look like this game is one they can win! Doug always found some angle that he felt they will win the game with!
Sunday - Prediction....BEARS WIN!

Met him a few times, but did not know him per se. Did a couple remotes for him. He was always very cordial and down to Earth with everyone.

Doug was a teammate of Gayle Sayers and Walter Payton. He was a teammate of Dick Butkus and Dan Hampton. Think about that. Long damn time as a Bear.

The best thing that can be said about Doug or any other person for that matter, is that he was genuine.
Who you encountered was who he was as a person. Friendly, but tough. A hard ass with a soft and giving heart.

As bigfan said in the other thread, he lived two lives.

And he had numerous run ins with Bernsie. He was going to hurt him once for sure. But I don't think that he hated him.
