I don't know that much about football, and I never saw Kevin White play, but I have a hard time believing that any receiver in this draft is better than Amari Cooper. I saw several Alabama games this year and that guy was unstoppable.

I saw a mock today that had the Bears taking Shelton at 7.

I hope they do not do that, I think a DE/LB there is the only way to go.

Minnesota safety Cedric Thompson 5'11/210 just ran a sub-4.4 40 on his pro day.

Let's get to know him...spoiler alert: David Fales gives this guy nightmares...

Every year, NFL Draft Diamonds brings our readers the best in depth interviews on the internet. We specialize in giving players an opportunity to showcase their talents on our website. We want you to enjoy our interviews, because when these young men are in the league, we will not be surprised, and neither should you.

What is your name?

Cedric Thompson Jr.

Where do you play college football?

University of Minnesota – Golden Gophers – B1G

Have any scouts met with you yet, and if so what are they saying?

Not personally. They have talked to coaches, strength coordinators and academic advisors.

Did you play any other positions in football?

Running Back until I came to college.

At your position, what separates you from others?

Tackling. Exceptional open-field tackling ability.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Played a lot of great players. No one in particular. Notable names are Melvin Gordon , Jr., Ameer Abadullah, J.T. Barrett, David Fales, Russel Wilson, etc. B10.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Eric Weddle, he is a complete tackler and is always in the right position. He brings the wood.

What is your biggest weakness?

Sin

Who was your favorite player and NFL team growing up?

Ray Lewis, his love for the game and the love he had to help other people inspire people through the game that he loves. That’s what its all about.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

Jesus Christ.

Dead Relatives.

Ray Lewis.

Top 10 Sneak Peek (with grades)

1. QB Jameis Winston (7.5/9.0)
2. DL Leonard Williams (7.5/9.0)
3. WR Kevin White (7.5/9.0)
4. EDGE Dante Fowler (7.5/9.0)
5. WR Amari Cooper (7.49/9.0)
6. CB Marcus Peters (7.49/9.0)
7. EDGE Randy Gregory (7.4/9.0)
8. G Brandon Scherff (7.4/9.0)
9. WR DeVante Parker (7.4/9.0)
10. RB Todd Gurley (7.4/9.0)

Gurley and Seahawks seems like a formality. They need to RB to hide Wilson's mediocre QBing.

MCKINNEY!!

The Bulldogs' pro day is tomorrow, Wednesday, but I'm already told there will be a crowd on hand for Benardrick McKinney. Nearly a dozen linebacker coaches are expected to watch McKinney, who's been drawing strong interest from the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and New York Jets, who are meeting with the linebacker for dinner this evening.

Linebacker Junior Sylvestre, who will be in a camp this summer, completed 26 reps on the bench and ran the forty in a time around 4.5 flat, with some stopwatches reading under 4.50. Sylvestre met with the Philadelphia Eagles, who sent their linebacker coach to the workout, and also had sit-downs with the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears and San Diego Chargers.

Many were surprised when cornerback Deshazor Everett was not invited to the combine, and he justified that surprise today. His marks included 4.47-second time in the 40, a 6.78-second time in the three-cone drill, a vertical jump of 38 inches and 10-10 in the broad jump. Over the past two days, Everett has met privately with the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears.

And this one is today -

Besides Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly and Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, the Tampa Bay Bucs, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears sent defensive back coaches. I'm told all 32 teams are in attendance.

The results for Byron Jones have been good thus far. Barely five months removed from labrum surgery, Jones completed 18 reps on the bench press and turned in times as fast as 4.36 on a number of watches.

I'm told Mike Zimmer is running the workout.

Jameis Winston is #1 on my board for QBs getting chased by broomsticks.

This guy is 6'1"/200 and the Bears had their DB coaches there today for this. Sounds like all the coaches had him running a mid-4.3s.

Quote:
Nobody blew the lid off the NFL Scouting Combine in February quite like UConn's Byron Jones, who broad-jumped farther than combine participants and Olympians alike with a record-setting mark of 12 feet, three inches.

But the cornerback prospect might have done even more for his draft stock Tuesday with an unofficial 4.36 40-yard dash at UConn's pro day, as reported by the school. At the combine, where Jones skipped the 40-yard dash because of his recovery from a shoulder surgery, a 4.36 would have ranked second among cornerbacks behind Michigan State's Trae Waynes (4.31) and ahead of Florida State's Ronald Darby (4.38).

Given that the cornerback position is considered a thin one in the 2015 draft class, Jones' workout performances could help him move up further on the draft boards of NFL clubs than he could at a deeper position, such as wide receiver or running back. At the combine, NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah said Jones is more than an explosive athlete who can test well in physical drills, crediting Jones for his prolific football skills as well.

Jeremiah ranks Jones as the No. 45 overall prospect in the draft.

I am starting to lean very heavily towards Bud Dupree, OLB, Kentucky. He might be even more appropriately suited to what Fangio wants than Beasley. He has shot up the draft boards since the combine. Even still, he is a guy no NFL people are talking about, which leads me to believe everyone is praying he will be there for them. He is better against the run then Beasley and bigger than him as well. He is not as productive at pass rushing and not currently as good but I think he can be coached into something great.

So, my guy right now is Hey Bud, what's your problem Dupree

What do you not like about Shelton?

I think he'd be a great NT for the future in a 3-4. Not a sexy pick I'll grant you, but I think he'll be pretty damn good in the long run. Having a good NT in a 3-4 is one of the most important things for that scheme imo.

Todd McShay is saying that USC defensive tackle Leonard Williams will fall to the Bears at 7. McShay has moved up the Georgia RB, Gurley and has the Jets taking him.

That would be awesome if they got Williams. Just based on what people are saying. A lot of people say he's the best player in the draft and he's only 20 years old.

There's no way he drops to 7.

Yea, I cant see 6 teams passing him up. Holy crap that would be great though!

Somebody would trade up and get him if he started dropping that far.

I would advocate the Bears doing so.

I could see a drop. 1-2 QB. 3 Jacksonville taking hometown hero in Fowler. Raiders going with White/Cooper. Redskins taking Beasley. Jets take Shane Ray.

I don't see it happening but it could.

Jacksonville's pick is going to be a lynchpin on this thing.

I am currently of the mindset that I would like a small trade down for the Bears and picking Bud Du Pree.

Just saw a mock from NFL.com and the guy had Byron Jones going to the Saints in the 1st round.

Amazing how quickly these guys move up.

Bears are going to have to lose a lot of games to get him at this point I think.

Beasley finished the regular season as the league leader in sacks with 15.5.

Dude was sitting right there staring Pace in the face. Though, maybe dome turf makes him seem better than he is? I dunno.
