I actually read through that whole thread the other day. Reddit can be quite interesting at times.

Forget the Hawks. Jack White's Austin City Limits show from a couple of years ago is on WYCC (1020 on U-verse). The set with the chick band is great.

Man, I forgot all about the Weddos. I probably haven't put that album on in damn near seven years. What a good album.

How does "Guiding Light" have no place on Marquee Moon? Every song on that album belongs. Love it.

Came to my doorstep on Sunday morning. Haven't had the chance to go beyond the fourth song, but the very first thing that I thought of upon hearing the opener was Reading Rainbow. I haven't read the actual reviews, but based on the favorable scores/ratings it's getting, it doesn't suck. There are traces of how I though Jim James' solo album would sound before it was released.

Giving it a first spin this morning. I'm a big fan, but kinda on the fence with this one after the first listen. James solo album is better than this for certain.

Leaves a lot to be desired lyrically is my conclusion. Hopefully this is the weaker of the two they're supposedly releasing in the calendar year.

Just listened again. Lyrically I thought it was relatively strong, seemed to have a lot of personal aspects in it but the music was kinda all over the place. None of it was
bad but there was just never any flow to it for me. I agree it will be interesting to see what the other album shows.

I wouldn't even know how to classify this. It's not really country, some of it rocks, bluesy, soul, etc.
What a voice, I think T-Bone and all you cats who dig "Americana" might really like this album.

I'll check it out this morning. There was a short add about this album on the NPR website while I was waiting for the Tallest Man album to load.

I couldn't find the actual album but listened to quite a bit of his stuff live. Definitely a more country feel in my opinion but he does have a
pretty outstanding voice and a good sound.

MERCHANDISE - After The End.
If you like The Smiths, Morrissey (solo), The National, etc.....
I think you will LOVE THIS ALBUM.
The whole record is fantastic, and I get to see them on the 30th!
CAn't wait.

I've never heard of this band. When I think of "bad books" it's probably something by Stephen King or some guy named Patterson, but the band name really reminded me of this track from Lois Maffeo:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcXrhTGXPJI

I read bad books
I make a scene
Read about my scene in a magazine

You say I'm walking around like I own the whole place
Well, I do
And anybody can have it all too

Bad Books is the side project of Kevin Devine and Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra. Good stuff.

ETA: I can totally hear the producer's (Ariel Rechtshaid) influence all over this.
I believe he produced the HAIM record.
This record is awesome.

Wanted to play something Chicago-centric for the Blackhawks, so I busted out this old bootleg. RIP Jay :(
