I wanted to quote this.

I guess Rizzo is a natural winner and Abreu is a natural loser now.

Tell him I miss him as well. Have him apologize and return.

Which is total bullshit.

Biggie has stated on several occasions that all these guys gotta do is apologize and he'll let them back in.

I'd rather swallow the pride and apologize, than be on the sidelines sending shit second hand.

As GD pointed out, let many back in and those same people chose to be even worse....that portion of the story always seems to be lost on the same people?

It's appropriate that a slap hitter was moved into the #2 spot.

I'll say this about the Cubs philosophy on base stealing- I don't know how critical the bases they have stolen have been in game context, but they're obviously taking what the defense is allowing and that is reflected in their high percentage of success.

That's as opposed to the idiot White Sox who only run in the most obvious situations and with the most obvious players. There are four year old kids in the stands who know that the pitch-out is coming. I actually think Vince Coleman has made them worse by making these goofs believe they can do what he did.

They're definitely running more than they have in years. It harkens back to the Zimmer days, though Zim got a bit out of hand with it as the season went on. That guy was calling for hit & runs with bases loaded and nobody out. It was crazy.

Some have come in critical moments, but most have been when a stolen base is NOT expected. Some have been risky, and that risk has paid off by the pitcher not even looking Rizzo (and others) back to the bag.

I remember Theo being on Espn in the Boston days talking about valuing outs in regards to stealing.

But yes, I believe Rizzo has had two where they didnt even throw.

Well, I do think with as hard as it is to score right now (particularly in certain games against certain pithcers on certain days) an out doesn't have quite the value that it did in those halcyon days of offense when Papi and Manny were hitting one out every tenth at-bat.

You coach Little League. I'm sure there are times when you have a runner on third and you know the girl at the plate couldn't get a hit in a million years. You've probably had the thought to just have the runner try to steal home but you didn't do it because it seems ridiculous. I feel the same way with a runner on third and Tyler Flowers at the plate.

Tyler Flowers drove a runner in from 3rd yesterday (with 2 outs!) in a 1 run game.

Let's give him a medal!

The way those two goofs were pitching that inning I wanted to get up there and bat.

Were not allowed to steal at our level but yes, there are times when I wish we could for that reason.

We only have one girl who really has zero interest. I just feel bad for her when she's batting

I take what Tyler Flowers gives, no matter when no matter how and no matter who it is against.

The Sox have almost stopped stealing all together, most of that is probably Salvador Perez but they seem to have temporarily abandoned the concept.

I just used Tyler Flowers as an example because he is often overmatched at the plate. I might just as easily have said Gordon Beckham.

I'm pleasantly surprised by Micah Johnson. I haven't seen him look overmatched yet. He can foul a guy off and work a count deep in a good way- one that doesn't always end in a strikeout.
