My exact thoughts as well. I like the way he's progressing already.

Compare that with Russell, who admiteddly is a LOT younger and his double yesterday not with standing, has looked like he's guessing and overmatched multiple times already.

Yes, very bad.

I think I was wrong about Russell. I thought he was ready.

Going to give Russell time, if he can cut down on the K's. He seems to be in control and I know he is the youngest player in baseball, but he needs to show the physical ability to go deep into counts as his bat control is one of his assetts. He has big Elton Brand hands and strong, that should result in that control. The double off the wall AB should have been a great example of it, if he didnt send the bat 30 rows back 3 pitches before that.

Not many 21 year olds are ready. Don't care how good they are.

I definitely think Russell is going to be a star. Just commenting on how he looks now fully understanding he's the youngest player in the NL.

I guess they think he has the makeup to develop at the ML level while providing + defense. We'll find out.

I dont know about star but I still think he'll be very good. Just saying how he looks right now. If he plays great D, then its fine.

Jerry Krause was golden when talking about players. Didn't he go on about how Brand's mom was also huge and had no neck or was that a different player? I know the "his mother has huge thighs" was a Sonny Cox quote, but I swear Krause also talked about players parents.
That being said, I don't know what Rizzo or Russell's family members look like but I'm sure Theo does.

I'll say this about the Cubs philosophy on base stealing- I don't know how critical the bases they have stolen have been in game context, but they're obviously taking what the defense is allowing and that is reflected in their high percentage of success.

That's as opposed to the idiot White Sox who only run in the most obvious situations and with the most obvious players. There are four year old kids in the stands who know that the pitch-out is coming. I actually think Vince Coleman has made them worse by making these goofs believe they can do what he did.

The media types for the Sox had a field day with Vinces arrival...he was goign to make them MUCH BETTER baserunners.

The Sox have 4 SB's this year...TOTAL

I'm very pleased that Rizzo is on this team. His community work is incredible for a guy his age.

Combine that with his on-field performance and he's a fun guy to root for.

Rizzo seems like a fine young man. It's too bad his career will be far inferior to Abreu's.

Rizzo will cure cancer before Abreu.

What's the LAR on that one?

Jed and Theo drafted him , then developed him. Jed got him in SD and then traded for him in Chicago. Rizzo is the product of the Theo and Jed "Way" .

He was the first guy they wanted, they envisioned him being the leader of this young team, being a good gjuy, being a good player, a face of the team, etc...

It was a ton to put on the guys shoulders....and iy looks like it panned out.

Give Theo and Jed a ton of credit on Rizzo for everything they asked of him, expected of him, etc and it looks like that part has worked out. Ultra impressive.

I was in Chambana last weekend.

Had Dr. Ken Jr. I have his first Murphy's experience. He made me take his food away because he couldn't stop eating it.

I will give Theo and the Cubs credit for Rizzo in a big way. They knew him and wanted him and trusted him. Reminds me in a way of no one wanted to trust Konerko and then it panned out. By luck maybe but similar story.

Let me add, from Day 1 when they did this, I was going to judge them most heavily on Rizzo. if he failed, they would have been down more than 1 strike.

I thought the chasing of him was weird and I wasn't a fan of the Cashner trade. In this case, I like being wrong.

Like I said, seems like a fine young man. And he has a bit of a redass steak, which I like.

My invitation must've been lost in the mail.

Green st. looks nothing like it did back in the day, does it?

Not lost. I never sent it.

The saddest part of the trip - it was like driving in the mini-Loop - no more Garcia's, White Horse, Deluxe - it's not small anymore.

I understand. You can't be seen with the hoi polloi.

The Buger King, Wendy's, Co-Ed, Mabel's, The Greek Table, The Discount Den...I could go on...

They probably just wondered why a Bently was parked there. So, they towed it. Just look at it as donating to the cause.

Didn't occur to me that it was Mabel's. I probably only went to Mabel's twice. Both times chasing some tail.
