That's about as good as a road win as you'll see.

I do not want to hear anyone else say this team does not have the mettle to win a 3rd cup in 6 years.

Hey I was with him for this series. Thought Minnesota was the better team coming in. I'll gladly be wrong on this. Anaheim however.....

The Wild gave it everything they had but Dubnyk turned into a pumpkin and Suter got clowned on several occasions. Hell of a lot of talent on that team, but the Hawks woke the fuck up.

Shorty from Colborne tied up the Flames game. goflamesgo

Flames gave up the go-ahead goal right away. Man, this sucks. I just don't want Anaheim to sweep at this point.

from the Committed Indian recap:

Quote:
-The Hawks third line was their best tonight, a combined +17 in Corsi. While not the biggest, Sharp’s and Vermette’s activity level along the boards keep them where they need to be, and Teuvo’s quick hands come in hand there as well. Consider at this time last year the Hawks were sporting Handzus, Bollig, and Versteeg and now that’s Teuvo, Vermette, and Desjardins.

Holy shit, he's right. Shame about our third pairing getting worse, because our forwards are much better this year.

I love Bollie, I love shin pads.

Those 3rd and 4th lines make a difference.

I went to the game in St Paul tonight. Great win. Lots of Hawks fans in attendance.
How many times do I need to tell you Gays that the Blackhawks can turn it up a notch whenever they feel like it? The Wild are soft & no challenge to the Hawks.
The Wild? Really? Give me a break. I told you Gays how this would end. The Wild & Mike Yeo are done.

+/- to me seems like one of those statistics that needs to be put to bed, yet it seems like a cornerstone of hockey fandom

It's akin, roughly, to ERA in baseball at this point. Sure it tells you something, but there are other stats that paint a greater picture in terms of showing what effect a particular player has while on the ice.

Hawks played 2 perfect road periods.

He's not your guy. And definitely not with comments like that.

Could he have passed? Yea probably, but it wasn't a sure thing to get that puck across. But, if he scored he would've been tied for league lead in goals and after losing the scoring title to injury and missing a month he deserves that honor so I have no problem with him getting a tad selfish with 5 seconds left and going for the goal. There's been plenty of times in the past where he's passed up empty netters to get the puck to a teammate, he earned the right to go the other way last night when the game was already decided.

Plus if he scored we could say today that he has outscored the Wild by himself in this series, 5-4 and how cool would that have been 8)

It's a decent shorthand for measuring defensemen and defensive forwards, but anyone using it to talk shit about Ovechkin or Tavares is arguing in bad faith.

I've been listening to sports radio AM1500 while in Minneapolis this week, and needless to say the Wild are getting torched, especially Suter and Pomminville... and the hosts here talk about the Hawks like they are the Gretzky Oilers. Lots of talk about how the Hawks can kick their game up a notch or 2 when it matters and as long as they have 88 and 19, the Hawks will contend for the Stanley Cup. They're 100% correct.
I told you gays that once the playoffs started, no one would be able to beat the Hawks. I would feel better though if Calgary would beat Anaheim.

Same here. He's a 1 trick pony & a lousy teammate.

Do you feel better about the Hawks now?
