(ive changed my mind. the team was playing hard because they are individual warriors that like eachother as teammates. nobody, in the office or on the court, likes thibs. im starting to wonder if garpax fired ron adams to do the guy a favor!!)

Because the players are still sold. They fully buy in. THAT IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT JOB OF A COACH.

look what happened when lovie was fired. he was hated by the media, hated by the racist fans, so he was ejected. then suddenly, there was an uprising by the players. PLAYERS LITERALLY CRIED. and what happened then? THE WORST TWO YEARS IN BEARS HISTORY.

john paxson, i know youre reading, just swallow your pride and ride this out at least another year. the moment the players turn on thibs you can fire him. but if they dont, and they keep running into lebron james in the playoffs, i think you would be a DAMN FOOL to fire the ONE GUY who has held this team together despite all the injuries. hell, the guy even made nate robinson GOOD!

That would be fine with me if they kept him. Watching him "die" with every bad possession or TO,I don't know if you find another guy with that kind of......fire and passion.

John Paxson knows best.

He'll get the coach hire right next time, I'm sure.

I don't understand how Pax gets a pass from seemingly intelligent people when he hasn't gotten along with any coach he's brought in and even went so far as to punch one of them. When his organization is run in such a way where employees feel their offices might be "bugged" and are not even in fear of being fired for getting caught saying something, but in fear of being ground into miserable pulp before they are forced to quit.

Thib's is an imperfect coach you can win with. He has nurtured players for this organization. And so let's line up behind Pax and play the coach roulette game in hopes he wont hate the next guy.

John Paxson is clearly an asshole to work with. Anyone siding with him is an even bigger asshole. I dont know where that puts Reinsdorf on that scale...

Exactly. There seems to be one constant in the coach/executive bad relationship.

to be fair, thibs is probably an asshole too. hes not real nice with the media, but he does play the game about as much as popovich does so its clear he understand when he can be himself and when he needs to grin and bear it.

i do think paxson needs to realize he is likely half the reason hes hated every coach he hires

There is some element of truth to that. He has fallen out with every coach that he has hired but let's be honest was Skiles or Vinny easy to get along with? They are difficult guys to deal with also. Thibs is a demanding coach though he doesn't appear to be a rock the boat guy when it comes to management.
I have noticed something about Chicago fans though. Anyone that Reinsdorf likes becomes a villain in the eyes of fans. It happened with Krause it Happened with Kenny Williams and now it happens with Paxson.

Paxson regardless of the personal stuff has assembled a team that is capable of contending. Everyone that follows the NBA agrees on that. Many people picked the Bulls to come out of the East prior to the start of the season. They have the talent to win the East. They under achieved during the regular season and struggled against a pedestrian Milwaukee team during the playoffs. How much of that is due to Thibs?

He has to assume some responsibility for this. This is a beatable Cleveland team with a rookie coach. If he is the coach most on here thinks that he is, he'll find a way to win this series.

I agree about Skiles and Vinny, but as Paxson then you have to ask did you learn anything from that before you hired a guy that you knew was all basketball, all the time.

I know this will piss off tons of people, but they dont like that he doesnt do as much charity work as they would like and isnt nice enough to someones wife. LOL

Of course that is not the only reason they will replace him, but its on the list...I AM SURE OF IT!

Charity work?!? Are you shitting me? Why don't they just farm that out to Scottie? Or rehire Vinny to have mandatory Super Bowl parties for disadvantaged youth.

I'm kind of with you on this but the fact of the matter is Vinny was a horrific hire. That's all on Paxson.

He should have never hired Vinny. That was almost as bad as missing on Aldridge

Was hiring a boob with no coaching experience a Paxson decision or an edict from Reinsdorf?

You could possibly argue that for Ventura but not Vinnie. That's all Paxson.

But we know Reinsdorf vetoed Doug Collins because he didn't want to fire another one of his make-believe jock sons. I thought Weird Jerry steered the search from there.

Yeah but why would he push for Vinnie? I'm not aware of any relationship/loyalty there.

Cheapest possible hire. No leverage. We know Jerry loves that.

But why would John Paxson have hired an edgy basketball-lifer in Skiles, an edgy basketball-lifer in Thibodeau, and a hapless dolt in Vinny? Something about that coaching search never felt right to me. Reinsdorf had to be involved somehow.

You answered your own question. Vinnie was the anti-Skiles. Bad choice. Replace with Thibs.

In some other city where management is not an asshole, Thib's is just a prickly guy with the media who brings out greatness in hard working players and who will push other players to simply play hard. So there he is not the asshole that needs to move practice to a different court to get management off his ass but he's just the grinder coach who dislikes stupid questions from media and who plays his guys hard. That looks Thib's looks far less of an asshole.

Meanwhile, the stuff that Adrian Wojnarowski writes about GarPax paints a picture of a diabolical mindset that is creating a miserable reality for people in that front office. And the fact that they poisoned this thing to the point they cant even trade him for what would be a first round pick, is just indefensible.

And who the hell would want to deal with GarPax and an MIA owner, at this point? People know what is going on and what they will get. They will draft very well, historically over-value their picks, pass on "low-character" guys like JR Smith who can shoot you out of the building, and all the while hope you don't have different opinions on coaching the team they are hiring you to coach. Otherwise, prepare for a 2-5 year run and buy stock in the pharmaceutical company that makes your HBP meds. Also, maybe look into boxing gloves.

i seem to remember a story where skiles sat down with aldridge at their pre-draft meeting and just stared at him saying nothing. after a few minutes lamarcus was like "WTF?" and skiles walked away telling everyone not to draft that pussy.

but don't forget they didn't only get tyrus thomas, but they also got viktor khryapa. he was just like mirotic before mirotic learned how to play basketball.
