Gotta be something more. Maybe it's as simple as ego. Eddie likes the broadcasting stage and doesn't want to acknowledge another voice adding commentary. Cuz he thinks he's the star.

There's no specific story per se ... you'll hear folks rag him for using his middle name rather than his first (Regis) to, in his mind anyway, curry more favor w/ Canadian folks, he does have a tendency to latch onto a thought and ride it into the ground (e.g., his love of Mike Richards' leadership, Crosby this Crosby that ... like the joke about Madden bringing up Favre in regards to anything) ... can sometimes do an interview to show how smart he is rather than actually interview somebody. That said he's no dullard, he knows his stuff, it's just he gets in his own way.

I really don't think Eddie is that kind of guy. It's probably because Pierre is a moron and everyone knows it. Also maybe because Pierre is like a yipping little lap dog that is constantly begging for Eddie's approval in the most pathetic manner possible. Most men find that deplorable.

They're in the same hotels during these playoff runs. Does Eddie not even have a beer with him at the hotel bar? Is it that bad? Must be awkward for Doc. He probably is friendly with Pierre. I can see Eddie walking into the bar, Doc is sitting with Pierre, Eddie sees this and leaves, gets a 6 pack and drinks in his room.
