Ducks it is. Getzlaf and Perry against Toews and Kane. Series starts Thursday, probably.

Why the Sunday game? I figure they would want to give the East guys the extra day off?

I think the Honda Center has a concert (Kanye and/or Ludacris, I think) on Saturday and they need to set up the stage on Friday.

This will be an interesting if the Blackhawks lose game 1 ( they were on a roll and had too much time off) or if they win ( cant beat all that extra rest this time of year, works wonders!) .

I do think the extra time off will help our defensemen a lot, whether it's resting up the top four or using the time to get Timonen back into shape (though I'll admit he may be a lost cause -- all he can seem to do is hold guys up after they beat him) and Rundblad back into a groove (though I'll admit Run-B.A.D. sucks too).

Perry's grew a new leg like a lizard grows a tail during Game 5. He had a 'maintenance' day yesterday, but I wouldn't read too much into it.

Hawks forwards should be able to pants Ducks D all series. Expect long sustained zone time etc.

Ducks first line is probably the best in hockey. 1b sort of thing if they aren't.

Hawks in 6.

For all the talk of how the regular season doesn't matter, it's worth noting that the last four teams are the team that finished first in the league, the team that finished first in the Western Conference, a 50-win team that finished behind the division leader on loser points, and, well, the Hawks.

I want to agree with this but I thought the hawks would handle the kings rather easily last year.

hawks in 7

I wouldn't say total, but I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop with their lousy differential (+7 in the regular season), and if it's ever going to, now would be the time.

There's just no way THIS core loses this series. They came within a goal of probably winning back to back Cups. They know this is the last year of the core being together. I've played this series out in my head a thousand times and there's just no way they lose. They can't. This story must end with them going down as one of the best hockey teams of any era.

I feel the same way. So many people, myself included, have been arguing that Getzlaf and Perry are superior to Toews and Kane. (It really is a worthy argument.) I don't want that to be true. A series win and a third Stanley Cup would ensure that it'll never be true.

The article I read made no try at the Perry Kaner thing but correctly stated that Toews and Getzlaf might be the best two centers currently in the NHL.

This cockiness makes me uneasy but the Hawks should win.

Yeah but we have seen this year that a team with a good line can get on us 3-0 really fast in the first period.

No...they aren't. Every team in the NHL would choose Kane & Toews over Getzlaf & Perry.

Career points per game:
Kane: .967
Getzlaf: .955
Toews: .896
Perry: .834

Career goals per game:
Perry: .410
Toews: .395
Kane: .356
Getzlaf: .293

Season high in points:
Perry: 98 in 82, 2011
Getzlaf: 91 in 81, 2009
Kane: 88 in 82, 2010
Toews: 76 in 80, 2011

I don't think every team would choose Toews and Kane, especially when Getzlaf and Perry make less money.

There is much more to the game of Hockey than goals & points...and, Kane & Toews are 3 years younger that Getzlaf & Perry.
This is a no brainer. Also, Getzlaf & Perry have no where near the record of clutch performances & GWG's that Kane & Toews do.

They've played on much worse rosters than Toews and Kane had. You're just being smug if you don't think Getzlaf and Perry are elite. Getzlaf is probably the best player out of the best draft (2003).

Ill agree with Scorehead here. Not one GM would choose 2 guys who are 3 years older, equally talented( at best), and less accomplished over Toews and Kane. Would you swap them out right now if you could?
