I don't want him gone. However, if he is relieved of his duties I want them to get something for him. What could they expect to get if they trade him to someone like the Magic?

"The Clippers relinquished this year’s first-round pick for the right to hire Doc Rivers, and the Bucks gave up two second-round picks for Jason Kidd."

Wizards have all their picks going forward. Might be able to convince them to give up a 1st round pick, to reunite Pierce and Thibs.

Doc Rivers was under contract long term I believe..and Doc wanted to help the organization on his way out. Thibs n paxson don't have that kind of relationship.

Its important to get a pick this year for Thibs, because whatever team he lands on will make the playoffs.

A bag of sweat socks.

Seriously, dolphin, every team in the NBA knows the Bulls are going to launch Thibs. Why would they give anything better than a second-round pick in return for him?

Which is strange because our resident and self-proclaimed "Mr Smart Management BernSTINE" would always say that one would be smart not to tell the league what you're plans are so you can extract maximum return....

But here he is.....telling the world.

All you need are two teams interested enough to bid against each other and you should be able to get a first round pick.

Anything less and what's the point.

Wizards are in win-now/next year mode, and they might see Thibs as the coach they need to figure out how not to allow Horford and Millsap to get, take and make 15 footers from the same 2 or 3 damn spots on the court every damn time down the floor. Image

Thibs has 1 season left on his deal? And Paul Pierce has 1 year left on his contract. Ask for their 2017 or 2018 first round pick--when the Wizards cobbled-together Frankenstein roster will dissolve and they might fall out of basketball hell into the lottery.

The Magic are another potential landing place. They might be more willing to part with draft picks, having had so many early first rounders in recent seasons.

Thibs asst coached for Washington for, almost literally, a cup of coffee? Not sure if there are lingering issues there, on either side.

Chatter around Thibs to Magic says that Thibs might balk at the Magic job b/c of his relationship with Stan Van Jeremy and how Orlando bounced Stan out of their head coaching job.

Pelicans need a coach and to up their defensive game. Despite having Asik and Davis, Pelicans defense couldn't stop anything this season. They'd win through Davis' sheer force of will on the offensive end.

Bring in Thibs for a season, have him coach up Davis et al on defense/his defense (the gold standard in the NBA, the way Pop's offense is the dominant offense these days) and then if Pelicans wanna go another direction, bring in a Pop asst. Likely impractical, cuz Thibs is gonna want an extension as soon as he's traded. And a lame-duck coach isn't the best way to bring in a new coach to take over for a fired coach who was beloved by his players.

You're missing the point that Thibs has to want to go to the team that is trading for him. That makes a bidding war all but impossible.

Doesn't Thibs want out of Chicago as badly as GarPax want him gone? I thought that was the situation. Get the sense Thibs values actually coaching over all else. So if he wants to coach next season in the NBA, it won't be in Chicago. It'll be in Orlando, New Orleans (who reportedly are interested), Washington (tho if Wittman gets passed Atlanta, they'll prolly stay with him, 2 years remaing?) or, and this would be best case scenario for the Bulls, but Thibs is unlikely to want to go here, Denver.

I guess Thibs has 2 seasons/$9 million remaining. That's a lot of coin for Bulls to eat and too much for Thibs to walk away from.

I think with the Pelicans position opening up, and Orlando waiting on Thibs, you have at least 2 bidders. Wizards get bounced by Atlanta and wouldn't be surprised to see them make a run at Thibs as well. Wizards and Pelicans are both competitive-in-the-playoffs playoff teams next season with Thibs.

If the Magic don't get Thibs, Skiles rumored to be their consolation prize.

In a trade scenario, it doesn't matter how many teams are interested in him; it only matters where he wants to go. The Bulls can't force Thibodeau to coach for a team in which he has no interest. Thus, the Bulls have no leverage in negotiating compensation for Thibodeau.

Of course they have leverage, they currently own Thibs for the next 2 seasons. 58 year old Tom Thibodeau does not want to spend the next 2 years on a well-paid shelf.

Bulls will get a 1st round pick for Thibs, from Orlando or New Orleans or DC.

The latter factor means nothing's likely to happen until the Hawks-Wizards series concludes.

Why would thibs help the bulls ?? At the same time weakening his new roster??

Thibs will say " I'm the coach of the bulls, until they tell me otherwise"

Paxson is going to have to fire thibs to replace him..this can sit on his ass or go coach pretty much anywhere..if he's fired he doesn't have to sit for two years..there is no non compete clauses in these contracts.

Looks like this prediction was as accurate as your assertion that Elizabeth Warren has the 2016 presidency all locked up. :-D

Sorry, Hussra.

They never had leverage here and they would have tried a little harder to make a deal, but the communication was so bad, there was no deal to be made...thus had to be done ASAP.

The only reason I see going to New Orleans is because he has the chance to get a special player to work with. Other than that, my guy Thibbs would be in New Mexico, looking for a HS job and collecting his checks.

Welcome to the Quarter Mr Tom!

If he was a HS coach he'd routinely violate child labor laws. Then Jeff Van Gumby would attack the superintendent's character on live television.

Reminded me of this video, Sexy Cajun Cooking, but it appears they've updated it... less sexy girls, and more focused on their restaurant... apparently trying to get a reality TV show deal. Fire half of your staff and you might be on to something.
