I just tried finding a quote as an excuse post the gif. There's no criticism meant by it.

Quote:
Smith dubs fans 'bandwagoners'

ATLANTA -- Houston Rockets forward Josh Smith called Hawks fans "bandwagoners" following the Rockets' 104-96 loss Tuesday at Atlanta.

The interplay between Smith and the Philips Arena crowd was lively throughout the night. Smith, an Atlanta native who played his first nine NBA seasons with the Hawks, was booed loudly whenever he touched the ball. The catcalls grew louder in the third quarter, after Smith drained a 3-pointer that rattled around the rim several times before dropping in. Smith then shushed the crowd by placing his finger over his lips as the Hawks called timeout.

"I mean, those fans are fickle, very fickle and bandwagoners," Smith said. "It really doesn't mean anything to me."

Despite qualifying for the playoffs in Smith's final six seasons in Atlanta, the Hawks never finished in the top half of the NBA in attendance. This season, the Hawks are faring better at the gate and averaging just more than 17,000 per game, their highest total since Smith came into the league.

Smith was a polarizing player during his nine seasons in Atlanta. Chosen by the Hawks with the No. 17 pick in 2004 draft, Smith dazzled fans with his acrobatics, shot-blocking and athleticism. But despite being only a 28.3 percent 3-point shooter, Smith attempted more than 942 shots from beyond the arc as a Hawk. Toward the end of his tenure, a groan would emanate from the crowd at Philips Arena whenever he elevated for a long-range shot.

In 24 minutes Tuesday, Smith finished with 14 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the field, along with seven rebounds, three assists, three turnovers and two blocks. Following the game, he remarked that his 2-for-5 line from long range was "pretty good."

Don't look now and I know no one is, but Josh Smith is beginning to look real good for Houston. I wonder if anyone is ready to have that Taj discussion about who is the better player now?

It's time to bump this again . Josh Smith is better than Taj for those of you scoring at home. This one isn't debatable at this stage of the game. Taj is the third best power forward on his own team at this point.

This one is not really much of an argument at this point. Josh has shown that he is clearly the better player. A simple acknowledgement and we all can move on.

Not really. Josh Smith has settled this one already. He really has been out playing Gibson for the last three months.

I'm lightweight trolling no one really cares but it is necessary in this case. Josh Smith was 7 for 7 from the field last game. 18 points. Already has 16 in the first half this game. Does anyone anywhere want to have the Josh Smith vs Taj debate or has everyone tapped out on this one. This one is really looking like a rout at this point.

Why was Dallas intentional fouling in the first half?

With Howard and Smith you have two of the worst free throw shooters in the league?

Just surprised that early, don't think I have ever seen that. I will also admit, I watch way more college basketball than pro ball.

I think Popovich once did it to start a game because Shaq public ally complained about the hack a Shaq. I think he did it in that instance as a way of fucking with Shaq. It wasn't used for strategic reasons. He was screwing around with Shaq because Shaq publically criticized the hack a Shaq strategy.

Houston inserts Josh Smith into the lineup and wins the last three games of the series. Bulls insert Taj Gibson into the starting lineup and loses the last three games of the series.

You seem oddly obsessed with Taj Gibson. Do you really think this is worth continuing at this point given the actually still relevant storylines surrounding the Bulls these days?

it's not an obsession. Just an observation. It's funny how there was a lot of certainty and back slapping a few months ago when this thread was started. Now that it is obvious who the better player is the same group that felt so strongly about Taj are now silent
It's not surprising that rather than address the point you choose to speculate about some perceived obsession. There were a lot of people on here that were wrong about Gibson like they are wrong about the greatness of Thibs. Rather than admit it the focus becomes about some "obsession". Typical

thats one interpretation. Another could be that the silence reflects a lack of interest in a 4 month old argument that only you seem to believe is worth continuing. If you see it as some sort of message board victory then take the lap and go to sleep with a smile on your face for a job well done.

That's disingenuous. Threads get bumped all the time around here. Some threads may be bumped that may have been started yrs ago so four months is not a long time.
What I will admit is that many of the people invested in this debate no longer post here and there absence is quite noticeable.

It has made for a weaker board particularly in terms of basketball discussions. They actually knew something and cared about the Bulls in particular and the NBA in general. The waning amount of interest in Bull Game threads was indicative of an overall lack of interest in the NBA.

The purveyor of all things message board types such as yourself have not served this board well either. By that I'm referring to the incessant need to always tell people what can and can't be discussed on here. There are many things written on here that I have no interest in and when I have no interest in something I don't comment about it. It's a rather simple concept.

In reading some of the stuff that you wrote when this thread was originally started I now can see why you really don't want to talk about this now. I didn't remember you as one of the major chest thumpers at the time but obviously you were. That victory lap you suggested that I take has already been taken. Have good day!

What is a fact is that he hasn't been a starter at any point of his career and Josh Smith has been a starter for most of his. That suggests that he is a better player than Taj. I'm conceding that he has not played like it during the past yr. Josh Smith has been a better player than Taj for most of his career and I think he will be better going forward. If you look at skill set he does just about everything better than Taj. That is was makes him better. Josh Smith has been regarded as a top 15 power forward and Taj never has how does that make Taj. better?

Again, you jump back and forth in time frame. I don't care -nor is it relevant to this discussion- how good people believed Josh Smith was or would be 3 or 4 years ago. Doesn't mean diddly. The argument being made by myself and pretty much everyone else on this board is that Taj is currently a better player. Further, The Bulls have not been actively seeking a replacement - they simply have been trying to improve by targeting the best available players. Gasol is a Player that gets them closer to a championship. That doesn't diminish Taj, nor does being a top level 6th man.

The beauty of of these discussions is that they are subjective and thus lack finality. However,

Once again ooops

Josh Smith has played 12 total minutes in the last 10 games. Taj Gibson is looking pretty good right now. Even E'Twan Moore is getting more minutes than J-Smoove.

I haven't followed this argument (because I'm not a fan of self-torture), but at their peaks, Josh Smith is much better than Taj Gibson. #fact

Just admit LTG was right and move on.

Detroit paid him $26 million to not play basketball for them. Houston also told him to go away. Now he can't even get on the floor for a third team.
