if i was to drink a 20oz Pepsi and 2 ounce bag of cheetos that's 570 calories or 45 minutes of busting my ass lifting!!!

when put in those terms i started choosing the apple. :D

The cheap and empty carbs. Don't cost much to buy but they're bad. For me it was the "I'll just grab a few of whatever" when I went into the pantry. That's OK but I would go into the pantry several times a day, after 3 or so trips I've added several hundred shit calories to my total, elevated insulin levels and all that. No good. When I got real.big.boy.serious about diet I threw all that crap out. If it is my snack time then I have to actually make something or grab low fat cottage cheese, greek yogurt (80 calories and 15g of protein) not too bad.

And portion control is tough, especially these days where our plates have grown to the size of pizza baking sheets and you have dirt cheap, empty calories all over. T-Bone your soon to be wife's small plate idea is a good one. My wife went ahead and did the 21 Day Fix, I was skeptical as always of the TV diets but it's actually a solid plan and a better teaching tool. It gives you the whats and whys of cutting out food and what to eat instead plus it helps you visualize what correct portions are. I actually followed it a bit myself.

I've been doing a bit better this week. Greek yogurt in the morning, trying to stay away from the vending machine at work. We are trying to do a Paleo thing starting this week.
Avoiding sugar will be the most difficult for me but I need to continue to work at it. Cutting even 7-800 calories a day and getting some exercise should show some real dividends.
I should be able to eliminate that much easy, the exercise follow up has been my Achilles heel thus far. Thanks for the tips and support SomeGuy

denis has offered some good tips that might be buried in the thread.

I love cheese dammit but it's definitely something that should be consume in lower quantities. It's a sneaky add-on of 100-200 calories for salads, burgers, sandwiches. It's a very easy way to slice off calories without ruining the meal. Pizza of course you'll notice but something like the aforementioned items you should be fine.

And of course salad dressing is a very easy way to fuck up what's supposed to be a healthy meal.

I was going to have a salad for lunch today and my immediate thought was of the dressing and cheese I usually put on there. I think I am going to actually
measure what I put in.

Quality olive oil and red wine vinegar.

Be sure to measure out the oil, though.

And def with the cheese, Kirkwood, the sneakiest of sneaks.

That's not nice, we don't do that in this thread. This thread is about excellence and I am committed.

But you are on a diet, you can't eat.

Diet is a term that has been twisted and turned.

I have a diet but I'm not on a diet.

I eat plenty, enough to achieve stated goals. Once goals have been achieved stability begins.

The path is fraught with peril and pitfalls, naysayers and court jesters. One must be true of body, soul and mind to make it through, to arrive at the shiniest city, on the shiniest hill, in the shiniest part of town.

Where is your NFL o-lineman level bench now? I believe Bear still looking for help.

Birthday is a week from today, was 211.8 this morning. Will start my diet and working out probably next Wednesday, as I figure to pig out on BBQ this weekend and have a day or so for leftovers.

Goal is 195-200.

I completely fell off the Paleo wagon over the weekend while out of town at my Daughters graduation. Now shes back home and wants to eat out every meal. I'll climb back on the wagon at the end of the week and get back to Xsport.

Well considering that's only a 2-3 lb difference, I'd say that I'm not doing too bad. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE!?!?!

Instead of salad dressing, I have been adding giardiniera to my salads.

Giardiniera doesn't do damage like Mexican food does.

Kirkwood, I do!

Officially lost 80.5 lbs as of this morning (so down to 280). Bench has been holding steady at 355 since April, shoulder press 255, squat 245, and deadlift 295. Even though they are the most pedestrian, I'm happiest with the progress I've made on squats and deadifts, since those were both absolutely disgusting before this year.

60-ish more pounds to go!

Lost 15 lbs.

Working through the couch to 5k program.

Using my fitness pal app to keep daily calories to around 1600.

Ran the Elgin Fox Trot on Saturday and a few more miles today (5). I'm at 75 miles for May, trying to get to 100 for the month by noon next Sunday. Next big race is the Ragnar Relay in 3 weeks, then the Rock and Roll Half in mid July. Holding at my weight but when school ends Thursday I'll for sure be better about intake.
