Actually only reported by a local NBC affiliate. No one else has confirmed yet. (not suggesting it won't be confirmed, btw... he's just the only guy who has the info right now).

Actually, SiriusXM's tweet was the first I saw of it. What is the point of splitting hairs here?

Well, first strike against our new GM.

George didn't want to sign him, but he got convinced.

Although Pace said it was our new DC that convinced him. So he'll put it on him. But you're the GM. So he has to own it.

He's gotta be a great guy.

nice. That was weird how that impressed George. That a multi millionaire would pay for a $300 flight for a job interview.

To quote Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive... I don't care!

Two months until training camp. Get his lawyer to take care of this so he doesn't miss any of the Bears off season schedule.

Stop with the fake outrage. Pro sports(hell, even college sports) will only get serious about dealing with this problem when the product on the field stops being supported. You don't have to wait until you get to the sports section to find serial abusers who are running the streets unchecked.

Get him some counseling! !!!!

What are you talking about? Even if the Bears don't cut him, which they will, Goodell is gonna put him on the exempt list suspension thing. He can do that now without a conviction. Where he suspends him with pay.

So, no, he will not be playing for the Bears this year.

George made the final decision on his own.

When the facts come out, he'll own whatever is there.

No signing bonus from Bears for McDonald. Nonguaranteed salary, per-game bonuses, $50k for one game on roster, $30k workout bonus.

Bernstein will act like he is outraged for a little while, then go back to being the management mouth piece before training camp starts.

As I said before....this team is not winning the Super Bowl. This was an unnecessary distraction. And now all involved look stupid.

Yes, he pretty much has to. Especially given his ridiculous explanation for the signing.

Mcdonald has TALENT. That will determine if he is in the field or not. Not Sheriff Goddell and his star and pointy boots.

You do realize that Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson have both been cleared to play right?? The difference is only one of them has good football ability left in them.

Yep. The Bears haven't done anything wrong and they're not going to do anything wrong.

Hard or dumb? It would seem this was a no-brainer but when a guy pays for his own flight and his parents vouch for him, I can see how a decision could be swayed.

I can just imagine Pace flipping burgers on his grill for his family. He probably has PFT udates on his phone. Or some kind of NFL updates.

So he casually looks at it after it buzzes.

Ryan Pace: *Picks up phone*...

I don't think that it's wrong to give someone another chance, especially when you consider that he was never arrested before. Having said that, if he was arrested, then I would expect the Bears to release him and say that they took a chance and it didn't work out. Bernsie won't need to say anything.

The McCaskeys are the real heroes.

He was never arrested before. I would have faulted McCaskey if he had never taken the time to sit down with him.

He looked at the situation and spoke to many of his former coaches, family and friends. If making a well researched decision is dumb to you, then so be it.

We already knew it, but David Shuester proved once again that he's not the brightest bulb.

He asked Zaidman if the Bears have grounds to cut him even though he hasn't been convicted.

Grounds? Hey dumb ass, this is the NFL, you can cut anybody for any reason. Guys get cut all the time with no criminal charges. You don't need grounds. What a dumb ass.

That would be pretty shocking if he actually said that.

This is Ray McDonald's third arrest in a 9-month span.

So one every quarter. That's a good pace.
