I guess George didn't think the woman was making it up this time.

He wasn't charged with anything !!!! Where's the justice ???? Has George met with Ray's Uncle to discuss this matter?

Who could have seen this coming? (Other than everyone not named George, Ryan, Vic and Seacrest)

Doubtful. Pace is already looking for his replacement.

Best employee I ever hired had finished a nine year stretch for armed robbery. He's back in the joint now unfortunately.

Did you talk to his parents before hiring him?

So you hired a two time felon with a bad case of recidivism and you give SomeGuy shit for drinking a beer 24 hours prior to an interview? So a 9 year stretch for armed robbery ok before an interview, a Stella bad.
You're a weird man.

And you make up imaginary scenarios to amuse yourself. Or something.

And he's a five or six time felon.

While I still think George is quirky...which I think he admits....I do think the guy wants to be more sociable and for lack of a better word "normal".

I actually think George should hire Urlacher as 'special assistant'. Its like hiring a wingman,

I'm thinking that Urlacher would have been on board with the McDonald signing.

I fail to see what the big deal is. The NFL is chock full of guys with questionable judgment and the Bears took a low-risk gamble on one of them. It didn't work out so they promptly cut him.

It seems the only ones making a big deal about it are the media. By camp it will be forgotten.

If the Bears are a Ray McDonald away from a Super Bowl, then you take a low risk gamble.

If you are a 1st time GM, probably not the best way to start your career off.

Things I have learned from this thread are this was a bad signing and Seacrest has lost his mind.

This is McDonald's second domestic violence arrest in the past year

The second of his 3 incidents he wasnt arrested for....however the case he was not arrested for, is still under investigation.....

"I was impressed with how sincere he was and how motivated he is," McCaskey said at the time. "He understands, I think, that he could have well been facing the end of his football career. And he loves football. And he wants that career to continue."

McDonald will likely be subject to the NFL's new personal conduct policy, approved by owners in December, which carries enhanced punishment for domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse incidents. The policy prescribes a minimum six game suspension, with escalators for extenuating circumstances or repeat offenders.

I agree, it'll be forgotten by camp.

It's just odd that this new regime that's stressing FOOTBALL!!!! and NO DISTRACTIONS!!!!! would waste their time with a rotational player. And the lame way they publicly justified the signing was dumb. Pace should've said something simple like we belive in 2nd chances and left it at that. Instead they revealed he paid his own ticket, they talked to his parents, George and Ray talked etc. So lame.

Q: George, did you dig into the legal system context with the lawyers who were involved with these incidents? And specifically with the sexual assault case, did you reach into the accuser’s side there and try to contact them?

McCaskey: “I didn’t. I don’t want to interfere with any league investigations that might be ongoing. I did speak with a couple people at the league. They couldn’t offer me a lot of information. But I thought that was an important element to cover.

“An alleged victim, I think—much like anybody else who has a bias in this situation—there’s a certain amount of discounting in what they have to say.”

See what happens when you talk? People have your idiotic quotes on record of you sounding like a huge ass.

I heard it was his third such arrest in the last 9 months. Just brutal.

Never should have signed this character in the first place.

I don't see why we hold football players to a higher moral standard than other jobs. They are paid to assault each other!

If he's eligible for employment, sign him up!

And add to this that they are guilty until proven innocent.

It shocking how many people are OK with that. I'm sure they wouldn't be if it happened to them though.
