It shocking how many people are OK with that. I'm sure they wouldn't be if it happened to them though.

Why are you defending this piece of shit? If he worked for you, wouldn't you fire his ass immediately?

Remember Scorehead, he was never arrested. Well, he was never convicted. It's shocking there is anyone who differentiates that to support their argument of a bad signing.

I work with convicted felons on a daily basis. People that were actually charged, tried and convicted of something. A number of whom spent at least five years of their life in prison.

That is far different then anything in Ray McDonald's history.

The rush to judge someone that has never even been charged, let alone convicted of something, is problematic for a number of reasons.

Then why are the Bears now rushing to judge?

He had an agreement with them, based upon what was published, to avoid situations that could lead to what happened yesterday.

I personally have no issue with the Bears signing McDonald. By all accounts (other than his ex fiance) he wasn't a bad guy. Many were afraid to say it but they sort of inferred the woman was lying. I don't think someone shouldn't be allowed to continue their career because of an allegation that ultimately led to no charges being filed. Hell Big Rapist was allowed to continue his career after being accused of raping someone in back to back summers. Even this latest allegation may be nothing more than a scorned woman (with a pending lawsuit ) hitting a dumb athlete where it hurts.

Jesus the Bernstein whining about this is ridiculous. Good god man. They're acting like they hired John Wayne Gacy to play for them.
Bears gave him a chance, he blew it, no outlay of cash, it's over before it started so no harm no foul who gives a goddamn.

Darko....remember...this is a new age for Bears football. These are REALLY SMART GUYS running the show. This ruins his narrative. He can't come down on the "who cares as long as he helps them win" side. He already had boobgate. That's why he gave his little monologue during transition.

Board fodder as well.

We don't have a problem with hiring prisoners from Joliet. we just have a problem with people getting hired that have never been charged with a crime.

Well wouldnt you? The Bears did exactly the right thing. Ray Mac signed a contract that contains a no arrest clause. He got arrested, so the Bears cut him. Whats not to understand?

Even if you included the no arrest clause in his contract? The Bears had no choice but to cut him...especially given what has happened in the NFL the past year.

If I had that contract, I may have cut him.

But what has happened in the NFL is that Roger Goodell has regularly been less than open and forthcoming with how he handles players discipline. Now, because of that, players who may be innocent can find themselves banned or suspended.

I don't appreciate being guilty until proven innocent. My guess is that you wouldn't like it either.

If you or I are arrested, it isn't front page news. We are nobodys. No one cares. High profile & highly compensated professional athletes are in the public eye & the whole world knows when there is an arrest. Plus, there is a personal conduct clause in every professional athletes contract. They don't have to be convicted for the team to release them.

The Ray McDonald signing is not some sort of statement on the rights of the accused. Somehow, trouble always seems to find Ray. It was a dumb signing....common sense told everyone that. Well, almost everyone. This is the NFL....they can pretty much do what they want.

I'm sure you will be lobbying to the McCaskeys to give Ray another chance, given your strong feelings on this.

Would you fire him today knowing he showed up at 5 AM, drunk at his ex fiances place? broke in the door.

These are the facts we know now.

If McDonald worked for Seacrest it would distract people from his own anti-vaccination nuttery, so I can understand why he wouldn't immediately fire him for roughing up a woman or three.

It's as though it's trying to be the worst possible combo of Sam Elliot and John Waters.

Now that I think of it, a John Waters voiceover for Coors would probably be frighteningly awesome.
