I'm sure he has new secret info from a source he met in the shadows of a gas station parking lot last night. He's gonna share it with. Goff will be pounding the table, clapping and stomping his feet at the bullshit being spewed. Bernstein will give him a look. Goff will stop the temper tantrum and get in line.

That source is probably a tweet by Ethan Skolnick.

What's the over/under on how many times the phrase "he lost the players" will be uttered? This is the tact he's going to take (especially since it was his "reporting" that brought this revelation of players practicing outside of Chicago to light) and insist that nothing else about this matters, including even his hobbyhorse bad optics.

BTW, a historical overview of coach-player issues revealed from previous Reinsdorf coach firings:
Quote:
During the season, three players, including two starters, conspired to catch Collins in some situation that might prove embarrassing enough to get him fired, so intense was some of the resentment.

Quote:
Wallace is said to have told Paxson last week, "[Skiles] quit on us, so we've quit on him."

Quote:
And whispers came from Bulls players who were less than impressed with Del Negro's leadership and coaching ability, and did not speak out emphatically in his defense in the last days of the season.

It is so noble of Dan to take up the cause of a Management team that is viewed as dysfunctional and a joke by the rest of the league.

Ethan is on the wrong side of Dan's argument. It's pretty much Dan, KC Johnson, Pip and Stacy King on an island.

Bernstein: So from what I have gathered, this was all Tom's fault. Reinsdorf's statement was perfect. He...was...defending...his buisness. Pax and Gar were great too.

Goff: Motha fucka, what the hell you talkin' about? They all looked like fools. Tom's the one that looks good.

Bernstein: Goff, you're a brotha, and I love you. But don't ever take sides with anybody against the family ever again. I brought you into the radio world and I'll take you out. Got it?

Goff: Yes, sir.

The new update girl doesn't know how to pronounce the name of the Bulls ex coach. That's kind of bad.

Ha. There's a Cosbyesque element here that really complicates this.

Dan tapdancing around this. He has seen what the national opinion and is going to play both sides.

But then launches into managements view on this.

Dan: "If you don't have LeBron, it doesn't matter!"

Dan is making "definitive" statements about what players think about Thibs but no one seems to be buying it.

Yeah. Remember his quote a week ago. "You will not find a better boss than John Paxon". To which Terry said "Yep".

LOL @ the notion that GarPax weren't campaigning for the end of Thibs' tenure but merely had an "exit plan." What could the months and months of leaks clearly coming from them be other than a campaign?

And here's Rozner and Bernstein coming with the false equivalences about Thibs' ego being just as bad. Glad Spiegel and Goff both immediately called them out.

I was right. Goff very hesitant to call Bernstein a liar. He lets the audience know that he disagrees by kind of grunting but doesn't really engage or challenge him. He goes hard when Berntein is not there. Gets scared when Bernstein is in front of him.

Why would the players have tried to defend Thibodeau when, as Dan admits, he was being fired anyway? One boss was sticking around regardless of anything you said; what's the incentive to do anything other than placate their egos?

Goff calling out the 3 starters rubbish at the end was necessary as well, and he got Dan to sheepishly admit that the names he knew were guys who don't work out in Chicago anyway.

I heard the Mike Francesca clip they keep playing/referencing. How is that any different than how Boers frequently sounds?

Good moment by Goff.

dan with another wholesale sideswipe of d-rose for "quitting" in game 6, then he kind of reiterated that the whole team quit when it mattered the most.

so at what point does dan start beating the drums to run derrick out of town? can you trade that contract in the NBA? you know that'll be the next mission objective for don't-call-him-bern-STINE-like-harry-did once the honeymoon with the next appreciate coach taking on his only chance to coach in the NBA ever thanks to the boundless generosity of mr. reinsdorf and john garpaxson.

btw you gotta love the part where dan says that thibs is ideally his #1 super-top-mega-0uber-ultra assistant. he's not even a proper NBA coach in dan bernstein's basketball universe!

so now reading in between the lines (even if they're spaced a mile apart for ease of reading) they're saying jimmy butler is getting too big for his britches in thinking that the bulls are his team, and of course derrick ain't having that because it's his team..... to take down the court and have them watch him hoist up a 19ft jumper.

i was saying earlier this year that when derrick comes back he needs to reealize that this jimmy butler's team, cuz when we started thinking "hey this team has a chance" it was when jimmy butler was first ascending into the 20+ppg club and establishing himself as the go to guy for this offense. once derrick got back he pretty much re-invented himself as a ~40%-at-best volume shooter (when he DJs in vegas his DJ name is obviously "DJ volume chucker") and there were too many times where it was like "my turn" between jimmy and derrick, and of course i wasn't much of a fan of derrick's turns because i don't trust him to consistently shoot the midrange-to-long jumper.

one other thing i've always been saying since 09-10 was that if this bulls team wanted to legit contend for the title they needed a #1 scoring option that isn't derrick rose. on a proper team loaded up to contend derrick would be the #2 or ideally the #3 scoring option, and you had that at times this year with jimmy pau and derrick, altho i reckon pau was alwqays more of a #3 option even when he was at his best. this jimmy/derrick schism is prolly some macho alpha male shit where they both want the shine as "the guy" on the bulls, but realistically if they wanna max out tehir achievements as a team i think derrick has to take a step backl and let jimmy see if he can back up his swag/attitude/etc. he showed us that there's more to his game than being a high NRG defensive spaz, and if he wants to carry on like he's got next on that NBA superstar tip like klay thompson or something, well then by all means jimmy i hope you can go out there and have a chance to prove it..... provided that derrick doesn't feel like jacking up 7/24 from the field with ~17 jumpers because it's his team and he'll chuck if he wants to he'll chuck if he wantrs to HEEEE'LLLLL CHUCK IF HEEEE WAAANNNNTTTSSSS TOOOOO!!!! (you'd chuck too if [the knee injuries] happened to you! da da da da daaaaaaa)

You know how they usually do 10 Seconds of Agony on Fridays? They did a regular 10 Seconds of Glory this time because the question was "Tom Thibodeau can at least thank the Bulls for _____." Yes, thank them!

The McCaskeys are Catholic and get the same "Cheap" label. Nice try Bernstein. Like would say to black callers about the KKK member, "DAN THERE ARE NO NAZIS UNDERNEATH YOUR BED CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU THINK."

I don't deny that there are antisemites among Chicago sports fans, but "if you hate Reinsdorf you hate all Jews, we'll be back whoops we're outta time" is some lazy bullshit. People should be able to discuss the shit Reinsdorf has done without running to "pernicious myths."
