Why is Marvin Lewis in that Xfinity commercial with the black kid singing and dancing for his grandma via a smart phone through the TV?

A new round of seasonal, syrupy, Tim Allen-droned Michigan tourism commercials

How much do I hate the "New Male medical clinic" commercials? I hope that fucking clinic catches on fire on 'bring your child to work day' and everyone dies.

We were thinking.....a pitcher who paints corners is known as a Rembrandt.

Maybe in the Hawk Nehru jacket days.

You know who was the best I ever saw at painting the corners? Bobby Shantz. He could locate that overhand curveball- we used to call it a nickel curve- he could locate it wherever he wanted in any count. I never faced him in the regular season. He was already in the National League when I was coming up. But I faced him in spring training in 1963 or 64 at old Al Lang Field. He threw me three curveballs on the inside corner and froze me three times. I grabbed some bench. Bobby came up in the Kansas City A's organization just like I did.

+1,000,000

A few more thoughts. FUCK YOU Pingo! O-O-O Oh shoot me! Why does the stream insist on playing 6 straight minutes of CBS local ads? Why does the JULIE commercial have such a funerial tone? You might lose your.....GASP! cable! Finally the commercials for CBS shows make me wanna go Elvis on my TV premptively. "Tony Dinozo, friend of the ladies." "My mind is better than EVERYYYYYYBODIES!!!!!"

Same with when the guy jumps in with "We can do that!"

Have you seen the guy who does the voice for the Comcast radio spots ("built for business") is now doing TV commercials for them as well?

I get the feeling Comcast will not stop inundating us with commercials until every single U.S. citizen is a customer.

I don't even know what the fuck it's for. I hope someone sticks razorblades in your ears. It's painfully obvious that's an adult doing a child's voice.

Those subs look pretty gross too, if we're talking about the same ad.
The one where the one guys says something like "at least I still need a barber..."

These KFC Darrell Hammond as Colonel Sanders commercials are the dumbest and creepy pieces of junk I have seen in a while. Make them stop.

What idiot thought this was a good idea at KFC Corporate?!?

I love, LOVE, those commercials.

IIRC the guy who plays Dickie was doing similar, deadpan-style commercials for Weil Olds in Libertyville in the late 70s early 80s.

Oh holy shit that's Dick Orkin! A Chicago radio legend!

Yeah, he's great.

I just heard a commercial for Uber that said "No more 9 to 5, no more commute."

No more commute? Your entire goddamn job is commuting.

I work-a less hours, and I make-a more money.

Anyway, I ended up going to see Dick Orkin at the MBC yesterday. Naturally, I cared much more about his advice for writing radio copy than reminiscing about Chickenman, which was unlike most of the people in the room. I was going to ask some questions about copywriting, but then he ended the Q&A presumably after one too many "do you remember the Chickenman when..." questions. Still, it was very informative and funny, though it had a note of melancholy as he walked with a cane, struggled to remember a few esoteric details, and referred to being "maybe in the afternoon of [his] life, or maybe about 11:30," so I'm glad I got to get some wisdom from the man. Lots of stuff about Jungian psych and the universality of specificity and all that good stuff. I don't really write for radio as much as I used to, but I hope I can still apply some of it.

Agreed. Those are great ads. It took me a while to determine whether it was "Grandma" or "Gremma" tho.

Does he sneak up behind you and yell "FADE. TO. BLACK." when you find out you've been bilked of the majority of your savings?

There is an incredibly grating Sierra Mist commercial I've heard a few times on 'WRT, which seems odd because it sounds like it's supposed to be similar to a pop song they wouldn't play and would be better suited to a station like Kiss FM. It's sung by a woman, and it's terrible.
