Series was pretty much over at that point as you just knew that game 1 was the Hawks one chance to steal one and make it a series. Losing it you just knew it was over.

Same could be said for last night only the roles were reversed.

Great call.

Looking at War on Ice #'s, holy shit did Tampa's 3rd and 4th F lines get worked. It looked that way watching the game, but looking at the numbers, it's unreal. That's at home, controlling matchups. If their top 6 doesn't pot 2-3 goals on Saturday, this could really be a sweep.

Grobber read a stat last night said the Blackhawks 3rd and 4th lines have something like 17 or 18 goals this postseason , the Lightnings has 2.

Yep. Also last night was the first time this playoffs Tampa lost when scoring first and first loss all year they lost when leading after 2. I agree that last night was a huge loss for them . They had that game and let it slip away with all those supporting stats that's the one they should've gotten.

Maybe it worked against the Rangers, but Cooper may be outsmarting himself with dressing a seventh defenseman and double-shifting someone with Morrow and Boyle. I mean, Brenden Morrow is fossilized dog crap. Doesn't make sense with Jonathan Drouin and Vladimir Namestnikov sitting in the press box. I didn't see their bottom three defensemen do anything where I was like "god damn, they gotta have all these guys in the lineup." I've always loved Jason Garrison, though.

If the game stopped 5 minutes into the 2nd period, I'd agree. From that point on, it was 100% Hawks in a varsity playing JV type onslaught. Whatever you want to credit that towards can be debated, but likely unresolved based on sample size issues.

I'd bet Drouin dresses for Game 2. He has to do something to help his 3rd and 4th forward lines. Which was of Nesterov's 4 minutes was your favorite?

What did you think of Crawford tonight?

He played well. Had a couple of really nice saves. Probably should have gotten that one though. Still don't like him much or trust him completely.

Half the goals in hockey are fluke goals, that was just another one. Crawford held the league's most potent offense to just one goal at home. He should have been the number one star last night.I have been a vocal critic of Crawford, but if he continues to play like this and the Hawks win the Cup, there's no way they can get rid of him.

Game-tying assist + game-winning goal in the second half of the third trumps Crawford's night. No shame in that, Crawford still had one hell of a game.

I transposed it, it was the game-tying goal and the game-winning assist. Technically, I shouldn't even be agreeing with myself!

I know everyone has made a lot of Tampa's wonderful road record to this point, but if they're down 2 after tonight, I don't think they're rebounding from that.

Far be it for me to make grand proclamations or get cocky when it comes to Chicago sports teams but if Tampa doesn't win tonight , it's over. It's rare for the Blackhawks to shit the bed 2 games in a row so I'm expecting them to be much better tonight on its own. Couple that with their history of playing better as a series goes longer and just their playoff experience in general as compared to TB tells me they wouldn't lose 4 of the next 5 should they win tonight. They could in effect clinch this baby tonight. Please come out strong put these goofs down a couple early then take advantage as they panic and press for goals.

Bishop is due for a stinker. Hawks score 5 tonight.

Chicago Blackhawks at Tampa Bay Lightning – 7:15 EDT

Saturday’s game features referees Kelly Sutherland and Dan O’Halloran. The duo has worked just one game together this postseason – Game 7 of the Western Conference Final between the Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks. That game saw just six penalties — three for hooking, which is below their combined average of 8.2 penalties called per playoff game. Linesmen Shane Heyer and Pierre Racicot, working tonight, also handled the lines for that one.
NHL Referee Kelly Sutherland (#11)
Sutherland’s making his first Stanley Cup Final appearance since handling Canucks/Bruins in 2011. This will be his 100th career playoff game. We spoke to Sutherland earlier this year after refereeing the Winter Classic. O’Halloran’s working his sixth straight Final, with tonight’s game his 150th playoff appearance.
Combined, the Blackhawks are 11-5 this year when one of tonight’s referees is working; the Lightning are 13-5. Tampa went a perfect 5-0 in the regular season under O’Halloran. Sutherland worked Games 2 and 6 of Tampa’s Eastern Conference Final series against the Rangers (TBL W 6-2, NYR W 7-3), paired with referee Chris Rooney. O’Halloran and referee Steve Kozari handled Games 1 and 5 of that series (NYR W 2-1, TBL W 2-0).
The Blackhawks had Kozari and O’Halloran for Game 3 (ANA W 2-1) of the Western Conference Final, with Sutherland and Rooney working Game 4 (CHI W 5-4).
On special teams, the Lightning have killed off 11 of their last 12 penalties (92%). Of course, they’ve only scored twice on their last 12 power plays (17%). Chicago has killed off just nine of their last 12 (75%). The Hawks have been held scoreless on the man advantage in four of their last six games, going 3-for-21 (14%) over that span

Ehhh...not bad. Hawks misfiring somewhat on the passing, but I think if they zero in they take this game. So far, Bolts look good, but not OMG! good.

Overall a pretty good period. Bolts spent more time in our zone than I'd like, and that failed clear spelled doom, but there's plenty of time.

Putting Drouin back in and going back to twelve forwards was inevitable and will help them a lot, though.

Hmmm...Tampa just let Kane waltz right in; hope that's an indication of things to come.
