You know the salary cap situation the Hawks are in.

What is Bowman going to do?

He will continue to enjoy having the best roster & team in the NHL, & contending for the Stanley Cup the next 8 years.

First of all, Buffalo loves hockey and watches the SCF with or without Kane in it.

Second of all, yea let's trade one of our big 3, a guy who was on his way to leading the league in scoring this year and is once again scoring in the playoffs. Yea, let's trade that guy cause of the cap.

Third of all, Buffalo is in the early stages of a rebuild and has a stockpile of very young talent. By the time they are maturing Kane will be closing in on 30. So, from their end they have just as little interest in tradeing for Kane as we have for getting rid of him.

And to top it off, there is no way they would trade their top draft pick this year straight up for Kane. Jack Eichel is going to be a grade A stud. No chance in hell they trade him for Kane. And on the flipside, the Hawks have no interest in that deal either despite how good Eichel projects...we are in win now mode. No need to trade a boat for a mystery box just because it might contain a similar or slightly better boat.

Such a dumb post on so many levels.

You only pay attention to the Hawks once every 2 years and only for the final series, please just sit back and enjoy it rather than trying so hard to make an ass of yourself.

Look, there's just no reason to trade him to Buffalo. He's here to stay. That's a good thing.

On Aug. 9, 1988, Gretzky was traded by the Edmonton Oilers to the Los Angeles Kings with forward Mike Krushelnyski and defenseman Marty McSorley for center Jimmy Carson, forward Martin Gelinas, Los Angeles' first-round picks in 1989, 1991 and 1993 as well as straight cash....

The greatest player ever traded.....but you cant trade Kane.....

Well , if a documentary exists......

So, a franchise sold out everything to get what they expected was a franchise changing player?

Shouldn't the Oilers history from 1990 to the present be a great reason why you should never consider trading Kane

That's pre-cap NHL. Pocklington was in real deep shit and needed the money.

I am only really roughly paraphrasing from memory but Edmonton's owner could not afford to pay him and he was marrying the hot LA star (at the time) Janet Jones. Owner and GM cried real tears. It was not a typical I have cap issues trade Kane thing.

Well, at the time I am sure they thought it was a great trade.

I think Jerry Jones would disagree when you can get a boat load of talent for 1 player.....won him 2 Super Bowls...once in a decade deals or more is what I am talking about....and apparently....Buffalo is the Stanley Cup watching capital of the US?

Gretzky himself cried too. I'm sure all of northern Alberta did as well. The trade changed the entire face of hockey in North America.

I don't think the Oilers thought it was a good trade at all beyond guaranteeing that the franchise would not fold. The Oilers will continue to exist, so I guess they won the trade in that sense, but it was a pretty lousy trade in hockey terms. Jimmy Carson was a bust.

of course it is never the same, but the hawks will be forced to pay 2 players 30% of their cap....

and just so all the Hockey kids are OK, this was a question....not a statement....

Just find it interesting that all said no....without ever hearing any actual deal....thats some slick negotiating..

IMU of course went for the trade.....I am just saying I would listen or make that one call...just to see if the option exists....not actively shopping him

Seriously though, you want to ruin what they've spent the last 8 years building back from smoldering ruins do it.
Shit the world about ended for Hawks fans when they let Amonte go. Come to think of it I was pissed they dealt Brian Noonan for him. Whatever. They traded another superstar, and I mean SUPERSTAR for fucking Zhamnov and something named Ty Jones.

Just about roont every bit of fandom I had at that point.

for Crawford, Kane and Saad

That's a NO?

I'm ambivalent to trading Crawford. I like what's behind him. That's why I wasn't sweating losing Niemi. Saad is a rising star. Kane is a superstar. Q would quit coaching if the Hawks had Ovechkin. Nash?

Trading Graham Nash to Buffalo Springfield for Stephen Stills and a singer to be named later ...

This is one pasta bowl of hypotheticals here. Are we trading with Washington, Tampa, or New York? All three, one of our guys to each team? I don't get it.

Biggie,

Now you're sounding like one of Grobbers callers. You dont trade your superstars...you get rid of the fringe players.
