Saw Clayton posting for possible Kappernick trade? Leads us back to Jay. You know they want to be rid of him and even if he is OK, I think they want a new QB.

Looking at a few different mock drafts....and 2 of them having the Bears taking the 4th ranked QB overall around the 12th pick...

12. Chicago Bears - QB Connor Cook, Michigan State - At times, Cook’s inability to effectively handle pressure borders on being a fatal flaw. Hopefully he harnesses the positive reps when he shows good movement while keeping his eyes up. Cook is certainly willing to throw into contested situations.

At 6-feet-4 and 220 pounds, Cook has the requisite size and arm strength for the NFL, displaying adequate athleticism and mobility to extend plays with his legs. He became the Spartans' starting quarterback last season and has started the past 21 games, with a 19-2 record over that span while showing consistent improvement in several areas. Cook has impressive confidence and command on the field and his game tapes are filled with NFL throw after NFL throw.

While he has all the physical tools needed for the next level, Cook could definitely benefit from an extra year at the college level. He tends to ignore his footwork and lower half mechanics and has room to improve his downfield ball placement, boasting a career completion percentage under 60 percent. While he has his flaws, Cook has a short memory and isn't afraid to test small windows downfield while standing tough in the pocket.

Then there's the argument by Cutler apologists that he will have been in the new system under Gase only one year by 2016 and therefore, the second year is the one that counts. Unless the Bears can get Manziel, I think we are stuck with Cutler two more years no matter what.

I figure the Bears will go heavy defense in the draft next year, but they still need to replace Forte who has just about had it. The Sun-Times was running an article yesterday or the day before, saying that one expert (not Hub) expects the Bears to have the worst defensive line in the league in the new Fangio system. Besides that, we have no one at linebacker and our safeties are shaky. Only strength on defense is at corner.

Most drafts have him going before the Bears could get him.....

I have no clue or idea how they go about getting a good QB.... it's been a problem since.... forever, unfortunately Jay was supposed to be the solution. part of me would rather not see a 1st round pick spent on a QB... almost prefer they keep taking chances on mid round guys every year until they hit on one (we're due our version of russell wilson).
