Holy shit they are fine. It was , as a whole, a very evenly played game. Hockey is weird.

If they score on 1 or 2 of their odd man rushes next game, it looks a hell of a lot different.

We literally JUST did this last series.

It would be nice if they would actually play with a lead and get the first couple in a game instead of giving up a first period goal all the time.

Totally inexcusable performances through 3 games.

Getting a puck on net has become a Sisyphean task for the Hawks. They'd rather shoot the puck into the Lightning's shinpads or wide of the net. It's like they are terrified of hurting Bishop with a puck or something.

When a plug like Callahan is dominating you've essentially given up.

Shoot, they're playing a one-legged goalie and can't score.

I get it. The weather is warming up and the cottage in Muskoka is calling. I just hoped they'd give enough a shit for the 4th round.

Blackhawks take off when their best players play like their best players. Didn't happen in Anaheim till game 4 . When Toews and Kane start playing like they're capable they'll win. If they don't, they won't .Dont think an opposing team has shut them down in a full series and I don't expect these guys to do it either .

First goals given up:
Nashville:
Game 1: Colin Wilson, 6:07
Game 2: Colin Wilson, 2:47
Game 4: Colin Wilson, 11:38
Game 6: James Neal, 1:10

Minnesota:
did not give up first goal in any game, not wholly coincidentally swept the series

Anaheim:
Game 1: Hampus Lindholm, 8:48
Game 3: Patrick Maroon, 12:55
Game 5: Cam Fowler, 5:10

Tampa Bay:
Game 1: Alex Killorn, 4:31
Game 2: Cedric Paquette, 12:56
Game 3: Ryan Callahan, 5:09

Went down 0-1 seven times in the first ten minutes, three times in the first five minutes, twice in spite of the lore that the Blackhawks come out fired up after the national anthem.

Yes, I'm very disappointed with what I've seen. This very easily could be 3-0 Lightning. The Hawks have yet to dictate play in any game.

The Hawks are getting their assed handed to them by a goalie with a shit glove and who can't move laterally!

That's embarrasing.

If not for the 3 Sharp fuck ups they would have been in a position to score the game winning goal in the last 2 games. I think they have played ok but their foot is definitely not on the gas. It feels like the last 2 games have been back to backs vs the Eastern conference in January. They will be fine. I guess having their backs against the wall is part of the thrill for these Cup vets.

Very disappointing game.
We saw an EXACT showcase of Spaulding’s description of Crawford. Goal 1 from Callahan had no screen Crawford drops early and Callahan burns him. No Excuse. He goes on to play VERY well through the 2nd period and after going up 2-1 the entire team falls asleep and Crawford can’t get a glove on a slow puck. Goal 3 another defensive and goaltending nap. I’m not placing the entire game on Crawford but all 3 goals were preventable by the goalie.

My bigger issue is with the fact that we couldn’t move the puck passed the blue line for most of the 2nd period. Followed by the fact that the entire fucking team has consistently gone into a nap after taking the lead.

Rough night, but it’s not over yet and I do think the Hawks will wake up and finish this off. As much as I dislike Versteeg, it appears Bickell is flat out worse….holy shit that guy is done.

1st goal I'll put on Crawford, their wasn't another TB player on their side of the red line, come 2 feet out of the paint to cut off that angle. Second goal was a weird hockey thing with the bounces and the skates and the whacking. Third saw a lazy effort by 7 to get to Hedman and then 26 getting sucked way too close to Crawford to allow that pass to be made.

1st goal hit crossbar just inside right post and deflected barely inside of opposite post. Maybe down too early but being any further out for the angle might have been easy wrap-around.

Over the years of reading posts here the UC crowd rightfully gets slammed for being dead. Last night when they killed the 2 man disadvantage was one of the loudest I think I've ever heard them. Stick tap!!!

Help me, I feel like after the 1st period, Game 5 Anaheim. This is over.

p.s. Don't say CH has a gay brother on the board...

It's not over. If you listen to CH and HFBoards you'd think TB has dominated. Far from it. It's been pretty even despite TB getting to play with the lead the majority of the series thus far. Hawks have carried the play more than the Lightning. Their goalie has outplayed our goalie. That's the only difference right now. The Ducks are better than TB. There's no reason the Hawks can't take over this series.

I'm with you, man. Bickell, Sharp, and Oduya have to stop sucking too. It did not matter to me how good looking Sharp was last night he sucked ass.

too hawks fans have ingested too many stupid pills. or they must be watching a different series.

hawks have owned 2 of the 9 periods played so far. my math says that's not good.

this is against a team with 2 forward lines, 2 defensemen and a hobbled goalie.

talk about dead ass effort.

tyler johnson is banged up and stamkos hasn't even scored yet!

the 3rd period was when the hawks should've came out with piss and vinegar after getting their teeth kicked in after the 2nd period. instead they couldn't be bothered to try until 2 minutes left in the 3rd. and my goodness was that a trainwreck of a man advantage. they got like 2 shots on goal.

Yes he did and that's exactly the point. Hiss only consistency is being inconsistent. He was great at times and stupid at others. The first goal was completely on him. He had help on the other 2 at sucking but they were both preventable.

The sky in my world is not falling. I still believe they will win. I agree that the Ducks were a tougher opponent.

Holy shit. 2 periods, really? People like you and CH can't accept the other team is going to dominate sometimes, doesn't mean they're controlling entire periods or games. Both teams have took turns controlling the pace and both teams could be up 3-0 right now. All games one goal games as well. The Hawks did enough to win last night but Crawford shit himself. Awful job by Cuminsky on the third goal too. Alot of people's points are correct when it comes to the aggravation of Kane and Toews not scoring and Sharp and Bickell being awful but the conclusions in these GDT's are dog shit. It's either doom and gloom or everything is totally fine. No rational thinking. Maybe I'll teach you all one day how to watch a hockey game.

TB hasn't dominated though, if anything the hawks have. even the announcer said last night in the 2nd period "this is a lopsided arena tonight" or something to that effect. the hawks stayed on TB's end most of the game. what sucks was the few times TB go close to crawford it was almost easy pickens.

but crawford isnt bad either, he just makes a few bad plays and it costs him goals.

in any case, WE ALL KNOW CHICAGO IS BEST WHEN THEIR BACKS ARE AGAINST THE WALL. so i dont think we have seen nothin yet, even though its been a pretty fun series to watch.

The Ducks are better, yes. The Hawks have not controlled play more than the Lightning -- look at the time spent in our end versus ours. I've been screaming all season (particularly in the regular-season games against the Lightning) that you can't just sit back and take soft shots at a giant goalie because he'll stop all of them with ease. That's finally biting the Hawks in the ass again.

HFBoards thinks Tampa has dominated, yes, but that's because the site has a huge bias toward southern teams, so even if they're getting to the right destination, they're taking the wrong road. They'd be saying that even if the Hawks were dominating.

Not worried. Feet still firmly planted on the bandwagon but I'm looking for a safe landing spot.

BTW, can't NBC get any people who wave won a Stanley Cup as a color guy or studio analyst? At least Milbury made the finals but Keith Jones and Edzo were just dudes on team that never did shit. Also, I've noticed that there's a profound dislike for Ed Olcyzk on the internet. Is he really that much of a homer? I don't notice it.

Not really. The internet (and like I just said, the biggest hockey community on the internet has a severe bias toward southern teams) just gets really sensitive to perceived bias because he's a Chicago guy and Chicago is good right now. But the truth is, having watched games around the NHL, he has a high-profile job because he's the best at what he does. And no, The Committed Indian, Daryl Reaugh sucks.

This is just a sampling of the doom and gloom Curious gave us in the last series.
He has NO faith in this team. He called them dead by game 3. Pathetically dead, apparently. He's been calling them pathetic, defeated, shameful all season long... yet here they are in the Stanley Cup Final.
I believe he knows hockey. He talks hockey, but honestly... I'm worried about him.
If the Hawks win the cup, there will be nobody in Florida more disappointed than Curious Hair.

Curious wrote:
Refs handing the Hawks the game, the Hawks politely decline it. A 2-0 lead for the Ducks wins this game. Pathetic showing thus far.

The Ducks are sloppy and the Hawks are timid. Truly the fruits of a 116-minute game tonight. Blech. Glad it's tied.

I guess we ran into the hot goalie.

Andersen is 102/107 (.953) in the series. Mike Smith all over again.

Opinion, not fact: this team looks pathetic.

Hawks look defeated out there.

I thought the Hawks were supposed to get all their shit efforts out of their system in the second half of the season. I didn't think they had any more in 'em.

Probably just going to be a Ducks empty-netter to wrap things up here. Demoralizing loss.

Can't beat Andersen. That's series. Not winning three out of four against a team this good.

The Hawks would be on the verge of a sweep if not for the crossbar. Pathetic showing.

That ought to do it.

Utterly shameful.

This sucks because after this, it's all over.

Back to your regularly scheduled playoff exit, I guess.

I am aware. I don't think they have enough talent to win two games.

Technically, it's just a 75% chance the Ducks win the series if they win, but they're not dropping 6 and 7.

My hunch is that with New York forcing a game 7, Chicago will not, giving rise to annoying Rangers fans talking about how the Rangers did what the Hawks couldn't and subjecting us to more boring Rangers games

Hawks are overdue for an elimination-game shitkicking. They've only been knocked out in less than game 7 sudden death by two teams under Q/Toews/Kane: the '09 Red Wings and the '12 Coyotes. With all this rhetoric about how you can never count the Hawks out and the Rangers winning last night, the universe feels like it's setting everything up for the Hawks to lay a big egg. My guess is they give up the first goal in the first five minutes and never lead or tie, but don't let the floodgates open until the third, ensuring that we all sit through ~45 minutes of frustrating suckage before we can find something better to do with our time
