After this mornings mishap of stepping on my tablet, cracked the screen. New tablet in order. Was a $99 one, had it for about a year...kinda amazing Tablets are close to disposable at this point...

So any good calls? and I dont want to go to Sears

Galaxy Tab or Kindle Fire.

Wide variety of specs. Get the one that best fits your needs.

Yeah, sure, but you'll have a minimum screen size in mind, I'm sure. Storage space may not be an issue, but processor speed?

Stuff like that.

It depends what you want to do.

a) Do you read books? If so Amazons are a little more locked down and they use the proprietary .mobi format for books. Androids use the more common .epub. Easy to find just about any book on-line (warez, torrent) and load it on the tablet or into Google Books.

b) Do you watch movies and/or potentially use it for work? If so you might want a bigger screen and keyboard. Here is a cadillac: https://www.google.com/intl/en_us/nexus/9/.

I on the other hand just use the tablet for reading books and the newspaper, a game now and then (mostly then) and facebook, twitter, etc. Much less costly Samsung 7" works fine for me.

whats your budget big?

i just bought dad the 10" version of this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Ti ... +tab+s+8.4

its a phenomenal tablet... but the real reason i bought it was the display. best you can buy. you really can use it in direct sunlight without issue.

but if youre looking for another 'disposable' tablet in the $100 range, make sure its a least a name brand, with a quad core cpu, and at least 16GB of memory. you can still get away with 1GB of ram, and any name brand will have a decent display no matter the resolution.

groupon has been selling manufacturer refurbished samsung tablets for a while... I bougth the tab pro 10.1 last fall, i couldnt even tell it was used.

anyway they have the tab pro 8.4 for $200, that is a pretty good bang for your buck... nice specs with a decent screen size.

$30 more and you can get the full-size version:

I have this one, it's an excellent tablet, as far as I can tell. Performance comparable to the iPads I've bought various ex-gfs.

fuck ipads (this video was aired 3 years before the ipad was announced) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsjU0K8QPhs

i like 10" tabets myself, but if you plan on holding it all the time i do think the 8" form factor is better.

Kindles are great for everything except they do not use 100% Android, they use their own version. A lot of apps do not work with it. Book reading is no problem the only thing that will not work is DMm encrypt stuff. I have a free program called Calibre that will convert books from one format to another, works wonders .

Are you saying there was some people that didn't like Badrogue but have since moved on?

I'm saying people remembered that they weren't performing an off-Broadway production of Mean Girls.
