Vermette will take a short contract in Phoenix so he can go back to hanging out where no one cares about him and try to have another big year in advance of the trade deadline. That or some other place where no one will care about him gives him the $5MM a year he wants: Carolina, Florida, Anaheim

Oduya will probably end up in Dallas or Colorado but just might stay on a short deal.

Carcillo and Rozsival will retire.

That's too bad . I was finally coming around on him. Playing a lot better as the playoffs went on. Richards ?

Oduya goes. Unfortunately.
Vesteeg goes. Meh.
Bickell HAS to go. Hope they find a taker. Otherwise ship him the SWISS league for free cap relief.
A 'surprise' guy like Seabrook could go, I suppose. But I'd be stunned.
Raanta. Probably part of a package.

Are we wasting space on guys like Carcillo and Timonen, etc? Because there's some guys that are gone.

I've changed my mind on one guy.
If they can find a way to make the $$ work, they gotta replace the PF guy in Bickell. Put Sharp on a program to gain 20 lbs of beef over the summer. He'd be willing to do it. Speed is not his game anymore, he's been more valuable to this team than Bickell........I could work with that. But I know that's a crazy theory.

You sound like CH.

He did something terrible once, therefore he is terrible.

Gone: Bickel, Carcillo, Richards, Rozsival, Sharp, Timmonen, Vermette...and maybe Shaw and even Seabrook.
The youth movement next year is going to be fun.

I would not be shocked if Seabs got dealt.

So you think they will dump more players than they have to?
Edgy.

See this is why you are a negative nancy.

Oduya is not terrible.

What did he do in the finals that was terrible?

Granted he is not even close to the level of Keith or Hammer. But he is a serviceable D man.

Shaw gives you a lot for the money, which makes him good to keep but also enticing to move. Heart says keep the little ragamuffin, head says listen for offers and send Hartman or Ross up. You could get value back.

Oduya is not terrible at all and losing him will hurt. Fortunately, we're flush with defensemen, but he does bring experience.

Also, I think they will do what they can to hang onto Shaw. Sure, he plays a role, but plays it very, very well. Whether or not they have guys in the piprline that can be effective fourth-liners, they probably won't nearly give you the X factor capabilities of Shaw. Shaw plays bigger than he is, is absolutely fucking fearless, and showed in the playoffs that he can tone down the stupid.

Shaw to Philadelphia for #29, do you do it? I don't think I do it for less.

This same description was used for Bickell the last few years.
Except Shaw's role is filled much more easily.

This year.

Both are replaceable though.

No. I feel like shaw always gives you what he has and he is willing to sit in front of the net. I don't know what Bickell does, suppose to be playoff person, wasn't the case this year.

Replaceable yes, but that would be a little sad.

A couple of these guys will probably survive, Shaw, Seabs, & maybe Vermette or Richards.

Wrong. Did you watch the stanley cup finals or not? Johnny was great.

A lot of speculation throughout the year that Crawford would be traded this offseason.

will be interesting to see who are our 2 goalies next year.

Nah.....you're off on this one.
He's been great for longer than just the final. He's a true top-4 D-man on an elite team.

How in the world can you argue he is not a top 4 d man on an elite team when he just proved it this year?

If he was not the 4th best d man on this team then who in the hell was?

You are basing hockey thoughts on your preferences. For whatever reason you do not like him and that makes him bad. Now that is a terrible way to base your thoughts.
