Per several outlets.
I will be there, I'll buy everybody a beer. I'll buy CH 2 beers.
Unless it rains, then screw all of that, because I'm sick of being in the rain.

How about the Hawks coach who got the cup after Kevin Dineen who said "We did it...fuck yea"?

I heard it was Friday? Whatever day, I plan to start work extra early in hopes of being done in time to head downtown. I'm sure I'll be 1/4 mile from the stage, but its worth it to experience such a great party.

The celebration for Chads is on Thursday at the corner of 35th and Stony Island, the celebration for the rest of us is Friday at Grant Park.

So um..Thursday, Friday, Sunday, whenever. Grant Park is currently under water. Not sure where else the city could hold such a rally. Maybe Soldier Field?

Split the proceeds with Reifs and Montadors families.

Wouldn't be shocked to see it at the UC parking lots. Grant Park is a disaster right now.

You can get maybe 45k people in there? The 2013 parade was attended by 2 million.

You'd still have the parade but it would conclude at Wrigley.
If you recall the 2010 parade dead ended at the river which realistically meant not many could see anyways.
People that couldn't get into the Wrigley part (with their insanely clear big screens) would just watch it in a bar and then the post event party kicks off in Wrigleyville.
Now that I think about it you could probably do $100 per person. $100 x 40k = 4 MILLION to charity.

And they probably saw as 2010 as room for improvement, thus why it moved to Grant Park.

The rain would indeed make that, or any park, dicey again. It'd be funny if they tried the UC lots if only to shine a light on the lack of public transit there. I'm out of ideas. Soldier Field isn't big enough, either. 'World Class' Rahm will figure something out.

Same problem as mentioned above. Too many people too little space.

Maybe if the disallow cars, there will be enough room in the parking lots for an overflow crowd. Plus Northerly Island, and, uh, the lake itself.

Maybe Sharp will sing.....

To all the girls I've loved before
Who traveled in and out my door
I'm glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the girls I've loved before

To all the girls I once caressed
And may I say I've held the best
For helping me to grow
I owe a lot I know
To all the girls I've loved before

The winds of change are always blowing
And every time I try to stay
The winds of change continue blowing
And they just carry me away

To all the girls who shared my life
Who now are someone else's wives
I'm glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the girls I've loved before

To all the girls who cared for me
Who filled my nights with ecstasy
They live within my heart
I'll always be a part
Of all the girls I've loved before

ah, those were highily suspect "official city" estimates. a statistician put the number at 400,000 in 2010, even if you double that for 2013, you're still well short of 2 mil.

these huge public gatherings are always way off in their "official" municipality PR estimates. And why not? throw out huge numbers, press reports them, CNN repeats and folks in BFE Iowa are all like "dayum, dat's a lotta white people". and no one really pays attention or cares when some UC or MIT math-geeks adjust the estimate way down.

Million Man March, initial estimates of 1.5-2 million--revised down to 600K (+/- 200K).

Worst case of this I've heard was DEMF in Detroit. First 5 years it was a free festival, with attendance estimates from 750K to 1.5 mil....

In 2005, the City of Detroit pulled its funding for the fest and Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson took over running the festival and for the first time sold tickets to fund the festival--which meant gates and actual people counting.

They found out Hart Plaza can only hold 30,000 people. They were lucky to get 75K unique visitors over 3 days--with very little difference in the crowd sizes compared to prior years.

Lollapalooza in Grant Park's capacity is around 90,000. I doubt the Blackhawks 2013 crowd was 23x's the size of a full attendance Lollapalooza. I doubt it was even 8x's the size of a full Lolla. Prolly the 400-600K statistician estimates are correct.

Ticketing Soldier Field with outdoor jumbotrons (maybe a 2nd stage?) in Grant Park [Hutchinson Field? Where Radiohead played] sounds like a workable plan.

The idea of 20% of the Chicago metropolitan area confined within downtown Chicago is kind of ridiculous when you spell it out that way.

Move it to Friday. Friday's the only day out of the next week that doesn't have rain in the forecast.

Open up and offer free tickets to Soldier Field and Wrigley Field with jumbotrons only at Wrigley. Maybe have a drunk Kaner & a couple other players speak first at Solider Field and then uber/helicopter em/take the secret underground roads under the Loop up to Wrigley (with a facsimile Cup).
