I'm still kind of geeked out right now. I love reading Stanley Cup Stories. I wish I'd been introduced and had an interest earlier. You guys have any or hear a favorite?

My Wife & Daughter both downloaded the "wheres the cup" app & now they are talking all day about where the cup is. It really is something how this trophy takes on a life of its own. Grown ass people end up chasing it all over the place.

High fives from.....19, 10,29 and 23 (but he missed the high five)....as they walked by Vines on the way to Sluggers....planned the seat for just such a view, knowing got a slight elevated railing advantage.

Yeah, its a scary moving mob....people falling down on the cur, security all around the players...civil but scary.

You need a guy.....let me suggest....find an asst coach...offer to let him use your place for the gathering, get a tent...and cater the event...all $$$ go to charity...

Went to one of the asst's house for the first cup, he got some local place to sponsor his house party, huge tent in the park behind his house, whole coaching staff and a few players there.

Got to sit in the shade with Stan Bowman and my friends kid, she was 6 and couldnt understand why Bowman only got 1 scoop of vanilla...."did you know you could have as much as you wanted/ and more than 1 kind ?????" I was a tense moment of negotiation...Stan handled it well.

With all these salary cap crunches, Stan just can't grasp the concept of having as much of something as you want anymore.

No, I really think he was in complete decompress mode...and wasnt ready to answer any questions...figures hey, that guy and that little kid eating ice cream seem harmless in the shade....and then gets questioned about the lack of scoops he chose to acquire in the offseason...he was kinda speechless.

I think the shaded tree was the attraction....and you figure what harm can the 6 year old eating ice cream do? Now the man knows!!!!

I remember that.

It was after i questioned Stan's inability to give props right away to the guy who was the real architect of the team.

After you met Stan and told him who you were, you deleted my comments.

Fun times.

Well as you guys know my mom works at the UC ,stand manager. She is #3 on the senority list. UC treats them not bad but Levey treats them like shit, little more than meat with eyes.

2010 on Home opener she was brought into the room with the cup and they took pictures of her standing with it. Morons that Levey is they can't find them.

2013 same this except they let them also take pics with the employes cell phones. So now my mom will probably have her pic taken again next to Lord Stanleys' Cup.https://www.flickr.com/photos/80060092@N06/18274827943/in/dateposted-public/
She is happy but this is the only one of her I have with it right now. Trying to get the others.

Also, those of you who know the officials around the team the guy who heads the minor officials at the UC,ie guys who do the penalty box and time keepers. Garry Stephenhagen lives across the street from my mom. Be interesting to see if he gets a chance with the cup this time. Would be nice to have a block party with it in attendance I should take pics of his house it is done up real cool during the playoffs. I just wonder where he keeps his rings, there is no way I would keep them in my house in Canaryville.

My only Cup story is being at the Cup clinching game in Philly in 2010. Went with a group of about 6. Between flying, staying at the Ritz and going to the game it still cost less than a ticket to game 7 would've cost.

I contend that I was one of the first 10 people in the building (and definitely first in my section) to realize Kane had scored. It was eery when he scored, neither fanbase knew what happened so no one reacted. For about 5 seconds there was complete and total silence in the building, something I've never heard before in a stadium other than for moments of silence. I knew about second after he scored and stated jumping up and down, but my friends weren't sure for about 5 more seconds.

I remember bringing a jacket to wear into the washroom to cover up my 88 jersey since Hawks fans were getting sucker punched in the bathrooms.

Best part was hanging out by the glass for an hour after they won. Only ones there were the 500 or so Hawks fans in attendance. Really cool.

Memory of a lifetime.

I love Philadelphia. It's New Jersey's asshole.

No, that sounds pretty much like a Flyers game.

I take it you've never been to Philly if you honestly think that didn't happen.

I remember walking around the arena and filming the crowd as I cheered for the Hawks. Every philly fan would yell and me. I would say 90% of them were just having fun living up to the Philly reputation, but there was a solid 10% of the people who you could tell genuinely wanted to kill you. A couple Philly fans challenged our group to a fight right outside the arena before the game...we just ignored them and kept walking.

It really is terrific how it makes the rounds. Never been close but at least saw it live 3 times in 2010: Cubs game, Buffett concert and Bears game. My wife said we also saw it at Buffett in 2013 but I cannot say I remember :drunken:
