I just discovered there is such a thing called cotton candy grapes - actual Green Grapes that taste like cotton candy. Has anyone else actually tried this variety of Frankenstein grapes?

Growers site:
http://www.grapery.biz/index.php/grapes/cotton-candy

I live close by to Fresh Farms in Niles and they had these cotton candy grapes for sale. At $3.99/LB is a bit much but I wanted to try these cotton Candy Grapes out. They definitely do taste different than normal sweet or sour grapes... These grapes have cotton candy/sugar like taste to them which I can see someone might find addictive. The big issue is $4/LB seems a bit too much, but for the novelty of trying something new I would suggest this to all foodies to try these once! :)

I had some red organic grapes tonight and I don't know why anyone would want them any sweeter. They were awesome.

Maybe they can come up with cheesy bacon flavored grapes next. God forbid you just have a grape.

doesn't sound like your a foodie! :) I tried these grapes for the novellty factor of trying something new and unique in the market... Some people can eat the same shit every day and be happy and some enjoy variety. That is what makes people unique and there is a market for everyone.

That wasn't a shot at you. It just amazes me what goes on regarding food in this country.

I know it wasn't.. I was actually just making a general comment that some enjoy variety or uniqueness and some like the same stuff over and over and are happy! There is a market for everyone... I also agree that genetically modified foods is a dangerous leap forward but more than likely a majority even the so called organic foods are from genetically modified seeds from Monsanto Corp which is the largest agricultural seed company in the world. We have an evergrowing population and a limited supply of farm land so a majority of our foods are genetically modified in order to feed and sustain the population around the world.

These unique frankenstein foods like the cotton candy grapes are something to try if your into trying new foods, but eating these everyday is probably not a good idea!

...and I never said I wouldnt try them....but as food gets weird, wonder how this shit is made...its not like they found these grapes in the amazon...

or MAYBE they enhanced the growing?

I know a guy that grows spinach in the winter for chefs. He has greenhouses that he leaves the doors open when it is freezing out, something about the sugars still produce and concentrate...then he closes up and lets the grow...or something like that...was the best spinach I ever had. The guy is an attorney...but he grows some stuff as well....yes, he grows "other stuff" too

Do you all realize that most everything we eat is genetically modified?

Yes. Seedless grapes for example. And any other kind of seedless produce. No seed = no production unless altered. Thanks for the update.

I myself smoke a hybrid of Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sinsemilla.

We're currently growing white strawberries...which taste like pineapple. I know we could just eat pineapple...but fun for our daughter.

It's a cross of Concord (sweetness) and Thompson seedless (vanilla, no seed). Lab work needed as mentioned to propagate. Price has come down as production rises, still lots of hand work to pick and pack. Not sure of the per-acre yield, but still makes my $240/ton Welch's Concords look cheap!

The best thing about this is, you can play 36 holes on it during the day, and get stoned to the Bejeezus Belt on it, later that night.
