Where is your proof? From what I've read today, all bets show he bet the Reds to win.

Quote:
The documents obtained by Outside the Lines, which reflect betting records from March through July 1986, show no evidence that Rose, who was a player-manager in 1986, bet against his team.

He's lied all the way through. And if he didn't bet against his team, he's a fucking idiot. It's a lot easier to lose one than to win one. And he owed a lot of money to some bad guys.

At first he said he never bet baseball. When that was discovered to be a lie, he said he never bet games involving his team. When that was discovered to be a lie, he said he never bet against his team and only bet as a manager, never as a player. Now we know he bet as a player. You can see where this is going. Of course he bet against his team.

Why worry about what he says? They have his betting log.

No, not 'of course he bet against his team.'

Well, yesterday you didn't believe he bet as a player.

Yes, he bet on the Reds to win. On the days that he didn't bet the Reds to win, he was sending a signal to his pals that he thought that the Reds would lose.
The guy welched on his bets many times. They kept wiping his slate clean because they knew he'd come back and lose even more because he was an inept gambler.
Do you remember all the things he said about Gene Garber fro the Braves when his hitting streak was stopped?
He thought Garber should have served him up a fat pitch to keep his streak alive.
Rose thinks he is owed and he always has.
He is a despicable human being.

When did I say that?

I don't give one shit or another about this entire story. Pete Rose could be a murderer.

He is still a Hall of Famer.

It will eventually come out that he tanked games. Why anyone would believe otherwise, I'm not sure. I guess they buy into this phony narrative of Charlie False Hustle who only cared about winning. The guy is an irredeemable scumbag. He cheated on his wives, he cheated at baseball, and he cheated in the memorabilia business.

Quote that post in 12 months and let me know your revised response.

The Hall of Fame that doesn't include Pete Rose and Barry Bonds is not a Hall of Fame. It is club.

I don't have an issue with Bonds gaining entrance, but guys like Jackson and Rose who lost on purpose for cash should never get close.

Anyway, if you believe Rose will get in in the next year, I'll say, no way. This latest revelation may get him booted from the Cincinnati All-Star festivities.

I wouldn't say there's "no proof" and I'm 100% comfortable with and confident in my belief.

There is zero proof he bet against his team.

I don't get this...there's no way someone could influence the result of 64 out of 69 baseball games. Or be that bad of a prognosticator (don't fade me.com).

fugg, i misread that to mean he only won 4 of the 69 wagers? I'll have to check the article/other sources.

False. Dowd knows everything he did. He's trying not to embarrass the shithead (and avoid giving baseball another black eye). But Rose has no shame.

So you're saying there is more to it and Dowd knows it. Dowd says everything is now out there.

You're calling Dowd and Rose liars?

Man....say one thing about you. Once you latch onto something...you roll with it. Forget facts, logic or probability.

I think you're misunderstanding Dowd's quote. What he's saying is that it closes the door to the Hall for Rose. But I wouldn't be so sure about that. There are a lot of guys out there like you and even more who are just guys who grew up loving all that False Hustle crap.

Dowd knows a lot more about what Rose did than what's out there. He knew he bet as a player. Until just now he didn't have anything someone like you would accept as "proof". He also knows he bet against his teams. Everything suggests he did.

Why do you feel that is the single line this clearly bad guy would not cross?

I don't think Pete Rose is a bad guy. He was a gambling addict.

Be that as it may, he compromised the integrity of a professional baseball game by betting on outcomes he could control. That's why we have a commissioner with powers beyond the typical "league CEO" that other leagues have. He can't be reinstated.

If it happened in today's times we would insist he needs some counseling, understanding and perhaps blame so vast conspiracy. Then he would have collected his 3,000th hit the other night.

Cheating to win is far different than cheating to lose. Rose is far worse than any steroid guy. He belongs in the conversation with Hal Chase, Joe Jackson, Max Flack, and Lefty Williams.

I don't care if he's a gambling addict. I don't care if it's a disease.
He bet on baseball as a player and as a manager.

Sick or not, he's lied for years to serve himself. He's a piece of shit.
