TT was an athletic freak with no basketball skills. Portis has some nice skills but is about as athletic as JORR. The current version of JORR, not the young man who tossed around other young men on the mat like sides of beef.

Is Portis a family friend?

Nah.

I did watch a lot of him at Arkansas in the SEC tho. And the comparison to TT just does not work.

TT was athletic as hell, but just did not really understand how to play basketball in the NBA and was lazy.

Portis is way more of a basketball player. He is going to go hard on both ends of the court. He is not lazy.

Tyrus was not lazy at LSU. He was everywhere.

Tyrus didn't even have a good year at LSU. He had a good SEC+NCAA tournament that vaulted him into his position. Portis was player of the year

Just as I assume every Bears pick will suck, I have to assume that every mid level Bulls pick is going to be decent

dolphin beat me too it.

He had a great tournament, but the rest of the year was meh and considered lazy.

Portis was pretty dominant in the SEC for the entire year.

Just because they play the same position and come from the same conference do not make them the same player.

Just run of the mill Paxson bashing. It's interesting that the announcers of the draft considered the Bulls to be title contenders. Not bad for a team allegedly devoid of talent.

rece davis, jay bilas, jalen rose, and jay williams... the title contender comment not exactly an endorsement from NBA royalty.

I think there's a strong possibility they will miss the playoffs next season.

Vegas gave them the fifth best odds to win the championship for next season. Each of the guys that you listed excepting Davis knows basketball.

Probably not a star but he should be a good player. GarPax has generally drafted well.

Not with the crap fest that exists in the east.

True, but they certainly won't be title contenders.

I see them languishing in the 6/7/8 seed purgatory, and floating around .500. If there are a injuries, it wouldn't shock me if they fell completely out of the playoff race.

I think they will be healthier. Rose will be able to work on his game for the first offseason in 5 years.

That is possible, but they would have to completely fall apart physically to fall out of the playoffs.

I see them around 4/5 seed.

On paper they are the second most talented team in the East. If Love leaves they may be the most talented. I'm not sold on Cleveland. The Bulls now have coach that will run a real offense and make adjustments. It's going to make a big difference.

Paper means nothing.

I hope you are right. I want to believe in Hoiberg, but I fear it is like the Bears replacing Lovie with Trestman....

The Bulls have to trade Gibson. I'm not a fan but it's not about that. He is their most tradeable asset and they have a log jam in the frontcourt. They need a starting three and a backup point. They have to see if he has value.

Looks like the Bulls grabbed Rayvonte Rice for a summer tryout.

A little short for a SG and has a poor outside shot but he can really drive and rebound as he's a solidly built dude. Might be interesting.

Gasol has the most trade value. After being injured most of the season and having surgery that's going to sideline him for 4 months Taj doesn't have any trade value. Last offseason would have been a great time to trade him or Noah.

I shouldn't say that. I believe this is the last year of his and Noah's deal so there is some value in an expiring contract but the Bulls won't get much.

So shouldn't the Bulls want Noah's expiring contract? They should. What are you gonna get for him in a trade? Somebody's elses garbage to match his money and maybe the guy you get isn't an expiring contract. I'd rather have his money off the books for next year's free agent class.

Depends. Some teams want expiring contracts to free up cap roon at the end of the season. Others want them so they can trade them for a valuable asset.

They can't trade Gasol. If Taj Gibson starts no way they contend for anything. I think there are still some teams that may view Gibson as a starting caliber 4 man. If that's the case you may be able to get something for him
