Allow me to channel my inner RFDC.

You would have bitched if they signed him to a 6.5 mill for 5 or 6 years deal. That would have fucked the roster. For a while. Had they waited for the match sheet they'd still not have him. Maybe get some draft picks they'd trade for mid to late season help, and likely getting less than they got in trade here.

Sure. We like Saad. Let's not wig out yet. CH bitch in about Toews screwing up this roster? OK I guess we forgot those three engravings on the cup. Sharp had a down year sure we agree but he screwed up the roster too? His name is on the cup three times. Let's not kill ourselves yet.

Window closed? Where have I heard that before. Oh yeah, in the Conference finals thread. Oh yeah and again in the Cup Final thread. And like every other game during the season from January on. Yet a banner will again be raised in the UC in October won't it.

We've been thru this before. Remember?

I'll miss him. I don't think he is a 6M 6 year guy so if that's what he wanted he had to go. Our situation sucks, it's going to happen though. I don't understand why they took Morin back. Some of it makes no sense.

Whose contract is the most crippling to us?

I say Bickell. He's the most pay with the least payback. Next might be Crawford but he gets more results per buck.
Hair will say Toews.

So what will they be able to do now with the money that was probably going to Saad?

I wonder if Saad will be as good in Columbus. I never really got the young Hossa feeling but I didn't really see Hossa when he was young. I like Shaw better than Saad not sure why and don't have a reason. Saad disappeared, to me, at times and it makes me think he could be a product of what was around him.

This trade gave no cap savings.

One of the guys is getting 3 million from what I read. The other guys are like 1 million or less. So I think it's like 6 or 7 million total. Maybe he'll flip one or more of the guys he got in this trade. Maybe he had an arrangement with another team for these guys.

Your boy Sharpe is still gonna go, Spaulding.

Jay is right and also he says this Darko is potential future star.

Continue to pay Patrick Sharp, I guess.

I wish Toews and Kane could have taken pay cuts for the good of the team like Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry did. They're two pieces of shit with human faces on them, but their selflessness has helped set up the Ducks with more cap space than they know what to do with.

Why do you assume that this move has anything to do with them keeping Sharp?

I will take Toews/Kane and the 3 cups over the asshats from the Ducks and their lack of cups

Or maybe the NHL owners can stop pretending they aren't stacking cash hand over gloved fist and throw up a more realistic cap number.

We thought Saad was getting around 5.5, Sharp gets around 5.9, no one will touch Sharp with a local weather bunny on a ten-foot pole.

you have no clue whether people will want Sharp. There is a lot of offseason left.

What do you think they should have signed at? I was hoping for 8 or 9. I think they easily get 12-14+ anywhere else so 10 hurt but doesn't bother me. Thing is they can always make money here in endorsements, a larger discount would have been nice.

They couldn't make more than 14. That would be more than 20% of the cap for a single player, which is not allowed. Just a hair under 9 each would have been nice, between 9 and 9.25 would be doable. 10.5 is too much. Perry makes 8.625 and I don't think Toews or Kane are that much better than Perry is.

I'd still touch him. I wouldn't enjoy as much as but I still would. He's got a no trade clause too limited but still has one, and some teams are in our situation with the cap so that narrows it a little more. Sucks. I wish he'd just be good again.

Montreal is one of the teams that seems to want him the most, but oops, Montreal is a place where Canadians invoke their no-trade clauses because wah wah taxes and wah wah French.

I still don't know much about all this or fully understand it so your help is always appreciated. Didn't Ovechkin and Crosby make more than 14 this year?

I think they are better, both have their flaws, but they are ours. They get it done and when they don't they are really close. I don't know how or why but I can't see ever giving up on them like you do at times. I do think their effort lacks at times and it drives me batty. Kane moreso than Toews.

Crosby made $12MM in real salary with a $8.7MM cap hit. Ovechkin made $10MM with a ~$9.5MM hit. Neither hit was close to 20% of the ceiling, which is what counts.

They are worth what Crosby and Ovechkin make.

Who do you think is the most important on the team?

Keith, Kane, Hossa, Toews, Hjalmarsson would be my top five at the moment.

Is the Hossa contract a problem?

You seriously listed Toews as important? Why do you not like him so much or is he what Kane/Crawford are to me at times?

I've always maintained that Toews is an elite player. I've differed in saying that he's not a golden god. There are many #1 centers on his elite level: Kopitar, Tavares, Stamkos, Datsyuk (though again, he's rusting out).

So you get mad at him? Frustrated that you don't see the results of him being elite?

And that is exactly why Toews doesnt score more goals. The Hawks are loaded and there are only so many goals to be scored.

Shall we have the Kane and Toews vs Getzlaf and Perry debate???

Why ars you starting this bullshit act already? Please just stop. I know I know...the Hawks are so fucked next year and hell is coming to breakfast.

I slowly closed my car window this afternoon as a nod to the 'Hawks window officially being slammed shut. It was a good run.
