AGAIN with the Crawford contract bullshit

He was the EIGHTH highest-paid goaltender last year, and within $500,000 of the next-lowest paid five more or so. Who would you rather have that would be paid significantly less and perform the was Crawford has in the playoffs???

I'll give you Bickell.

The Hawks would of probably won the Cup with Darling. I don't believe in paying goalies, they're not as important as they once were. Stack the team with skill and throw someone in net that won't totally fuck everything up every night. Those goalies are dime a dozen now.

As much as I like Darling, that was a small sample size, and everyone seems to forget that he struggled mightily in the last two games he played against Nashville (seven GA in 40 shots the last two games, including being pulled after three GA on 12 shots in Game 6), which allowed Crawford to return for the duration.

Crawford struggled in that series too. You know why they struggled? Because Nashville was kicking the shit out of the Hawks. Don't forget Darling won us Game 1.

The fact of the matter is that you don't pay goalies in an era that makes the initial dead puck era look high scoring.

I'd probably be the best GM in the NHL.

The Hawks can still move Sharp....and hopefully a good chunk of Bickell.
Then it will be time to start thinking crazy instead of pessimistically :drunken:

If this was your move, wouldn't it have been wise to make it known throughout the league that Saad was available to maximize value? I know nothing about any of these players other than Saad, but it seems the corporate apologists on the board chalk it up to the Hawks being in a bad position. It seems like that bad position was foreseeable.

It appears to me that Bowman did get max value.

I can't believe Semin is already 31 years old.

Word is that StanBo knew even before the draft that they were probably not gonna re-sign him, and DID put the word out.

I can only rely on the blended analysis of the CH/Kirkwood group and the Don Tiny tiny group. If I have ever seen any of these guys play, I don't remember it...and I certainly wouldn't admit to it.

So let me get this straight....

Columbus gets rid of some players and keeps their 1st/2nd/3rd round draft picks. And they now own the rights to Saad, who can still be given an offer sheet by another team starting today...which would then possibly give Columbus another set of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks.

Pretty much. But I lean toward they do not trade unless they intend to match whatever may come.

He is one of those centers that doesn't put up a ton of points but the eye test tells you he is at least decent.

CBJ has the room to match an offer sheet.

Hard to imagine that they will get much of anything for Sharp or Bickel. They can't retain much salary.

He's a good replacement for Vermette.

Because AA extention does not kick until season after next I think it may work to bring back Richards once more on a min deal.

But then where would you put Richards? Unless Teuvo goes to wing, all of the center spots are taken (assuming they sign Kruger).

Yes either T to wing or Kruger does not stay. They can figure it out.

Richards would be signed to be the 2C. AA 3C.

Screw signing another forward. Sign someone to play defense.

Richards would be signed to be the 2C. AA 3C.

Right now your centermen are:

Toews
Anisimov
Dano
Kruger

Richards and Vermette are gone. I like Vermette, but there is no room for him.

I think Richards will be back if the price is right. He likes it here and Kane likes him. If he's back, he remains the #2 C. Q will want to move Dano to the wing.
