There was one on Randall Road in Algonquin. I ate there once, and it was nothing memorable. If I recall properly, it seemed like they copied Pot Belly's, which means I would just go to Pot Belly's.

Good? Bad?

Average...I've eaten at the Vernon Hills location a couple of times.

As Denis said, I'd rather just go to Potbellys

Do you ask for Grey Poupon on your subs?

Yellow mustard is just fine for my blue collar tastes. I try to avoid cheese and mayo these days as I like my sub 32 inch waist line.

It's just another generic sub shop chain. Just with a firehouse theme. Kids can get a plastic fireman hat. nothing special.

I thought this fad hit its apex five or 10 years ago.

They also play Lil Wayne inside their stores.

I think warm lunch eat is gross. I can't get in to the toasted sub thing.

When the Algonquin store closed, I assumed the same thing. I only went once and will not ever go again if they open another one near me.

My buddies and I took a golf trip down to Atlanta probably about 10 years ago. We had been drinking and playing golf
in the morning and were taking a cab to Bucktown. On the way we pull up next to an old vintage Rolls Royce and one of
the guys rolls down his window, gets the woman driving the car's attention and when she rolls down the window he asks,
"Pardon me but would you happen to have some Grey Poupon". She leans over and pulls a jar from the glove box.
The light turns green and she drives away. It was one of the funnier things that I've seen.

Too funny! I assume you goofs weren't the first to ask her that question.

There used to be a yellow Roller on the North Shore with a plate that said "SNOB". You know that guy, bigfan?

I saw them building the one downtown and I'm pumped. Way better sandwiches than Potbelly's. The Hook and Ladder is an awesome sandwich, in my opinion.

First one I ever went to was in Wheaton's Danada area at lunch during work. Got a basic roast beef sub (I don't know what the Firehouse themed name was) -- half way through it, I bit into a literally golf ball sized piece of gristle. And paid $9.80 or whatever for the pleasure. I have gone a handful of times since then, but I feel like they are mostly overpriced for what you are getting.

The line was longer than guys waiting to meet Spaulding at a CSFMB event. I'll wait a few days when the novelty wears off.

If you're waiting for love from an overweight cover band singer, I might suggest you hang at higher caloric fast food joints.

Are you confusing Spiegel and Spaulding? I know their names both start with "Sp", but Spiegel has slightly larger boobs.

I used to work down the street from a Firehouse in Glenview.

Steamed bread, not toasted. The subs were very good, but overpriced and very slow. Closest comparison is Penn Station. For subs, I prefer Potbelly or Jersey Mike’s.
