So ... if this is a stat rape case, in NY the age of consent I think is 17 (same as Illinois), so if it really is stat rape I would have to guess it's younger than 17.

Apparently this all started in a bar ... so if there's an underage broad drinking in a bar, not only is that a problem for the bar for admittance and likely serving, you've also now given Kaner some leverage against a stat rape case in that why would he could start to deflect enough blame towards the bar.

I'm no lawyer but there's these two things that, if true, start to shift how this works in the courtroom I would think; whether it gains traction in the public eye, who knows.
