I'm starting to question this guys toughness, I've seen him make painful grimacing faces when he gets sawed off..I saw him leave a game from a weak tag on his helmet while sliding head first into 2nd . Tonight he's left the game over a bruise.

Toughen up man, Rizzo gets drilled every 3-4 games.

Not sure. That would probably help for game play.

I've played hard before.

Kept fouling off pitches on the inside half.

Gotta get him in the weight room...will be interesting to see if he gets a place in Mesa for the offseason, or he goes back to his parents house ?

He's on pace for 25 homers and 101 RBI in his rookie year

I have noticed the grimacing recently, maybe he's got a hip or a back or something he's been dealing with.

People think baseball isn't a physical game. It is really demanding when you get out there

It's a pretty quiet 25 / 100 season.

He is an interesting dude: has never drank, etc. so he's one of those guys but all in all he looks to be an all star caliber player moving forward. Time will tell if he beefs up, etc. and how his game materializes. He is on pace for 20 SB's and he defense has been adequate so he may be a keeper at 3B. His upper cut swing has resulted in a lot of fly ball outs so will that evolve at all?

Not a bust at least and could be a perennial all star with the possibility of growing into superstar.

As to being "soft" - I'd say he is a tad bit soft but at least he's not one of these guys always getting injured for whatever reason...

It's a game that requires your whole body. If you got a bad rib,you can't throw or run in the OF,etc.
It's not like playing the D-Line,where guys "tough it out" with similar injuries.

And let's not forget that he hit the greatest double in major league history.

Lol, was that the one Dan B said was "impossible" to hit based on the inside pitch location?

That's a hell of a season for a rookie. Why would anyone be upset with that?

That Mark McGwire rookie home run barrage type season is few and far between.

He'll be fine.

Probably. Somebody here posted an article about it back then. I found it.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/lets-watch-kris-bryant-do-something-amazing/

Quote:
I don’t know what else you need. When we all saw the Bryant double live, or in a highlight, we knew it was incredible. We also have the information to say how incredible. Hitters just don’t do what Kris Bryant did, and while maybe some other hitter might’ve turned on the same pitch and knocked it out to left, that doesn’t mean Bryant’s result wasn’t extraordinary. It was a great result, and it was a freakish result, the achievement of a baseball-hitting freak who can do things other people don’t. They don’t make many hitters like Kris Bryant. Because of this double alone, you could accurately figure that Bryant has a special skillset.

25 homers are good, but aren't the RBI meaningless? Or do we just toggle back and forth with this shit as it suits our arguments?

RBI aren't meaningless to me.

Yes you have to have people on base in front of you, which is out of your control, but you still have to drive them in.

The 25 homers aren't necessarily good either unless they would have made it out of every park

Lets throw in the 200 k's projected too. Look he's not been bad at all but in my opinion he's having a quiet year despite his 25 100 pace. I don't think pitchers are fearing facing him.
