I sure hope Kane scores the winning goal or a goal, or an assist in one of these final 2 games, because we could have never got here without him.

Seven points in the Anaheim series, six against Minnesota, seven against Nashville. Tied with Toews for third in the playoffs in points, tied for second in goals. So no, we couldn't have.

I hope Toews or Kane has a three-point game on Monday to knock that mouthy little shit Johnson out of first place.

??? Johnson been running his mouth? Hadn't heard that

Need to speak the Hockey language,

Only thing I have seen is him declare he is fine when asked if he is hurt?

Sabres have two first rounders and the first pick of the second round. How about Sharp for the later first?

That would be great, if they can get it done. sharp is no longer a critical part of the team and makes too much money. Bickell should be gone too.

Carm was saying whether these allegations are true or not that Standonough are livid and a trade might be a real possibility.

Stan Cup on the clock!!!!!

That clears $10 mill in cap money....

"Dear Carolina, we will trade you the rights to PKane for Brandon Saad and $10 mill cash!"

To be ultra clear my desire to LOOK into trading Kaner was not based on something like this happening. I did think DUI or Drug issue, or just anything bad happening ...or a season or career ending injury. Of course that can happen to anyone...but that point was that kane was going to be 1/7 of the payroll, combine that with another guy on the team with another 1/7th Salary....and we know they have major salary cap issues, thus Saad trade.

While the benefits of Kane are easy to see, the drawbacks of placing all your eggs in 2 baskets is now going to be seen.

As many have said "A REAL first class organization does the right thing"....and if the Law doesnt get it done and money takes care of the legal end of things, The Hawks will be the new Judge.

4 or 5 unsolicited offers.

I'm sure they're listening to the offers...and I'm sure they're all lowballs!

Small detail about Kaner's no move clause.

I cant imagine the Hawks dont have as much language as they could possibly have put into a contract about terminating his deal for such off ice issues. I assume there is standard language for such contracts, then for some others there is additional language....and the guy who walks around drunk with his KANER shirt, might get that additional language.

So, while the Hawks would get nothing if they terminate his deal, Kane also loses some big money as nobody is giving him $10 mill either.

This is all McDonoughs call at this point, because Rocky would move him tomorrow.

Additional contractual language is not permitted under the CBA. Other than bonuses for entry-level and 35+ players, all players are subject to the same terms.

I heard that. I also heard:

Not happy about the Kane situation at all. As unhappy as I was when my local butcher was out of salami and had to settle for pancetta. Not that's that a bad thing. It's just, you know when you want a nice sandwich, only the a-salami suffices (makes stereotype Italian kissing gesture again).

Thankfully, there is the Mike Richards catch-all.

Right, but the union is filing a grievance over that. They only used it on Richards because he fell off a cliff as a player (a tragedy) and they were tired of paying him the money they owed him. Scoundrels around the league have been able to keep their contracts from being terminated for misconduct.

It would take me awhile to forgive this franchise if they trade Kane if there is no conviction.

Regardless of guilt or potential conviction, the presence of the investigation puts Kane's trade value at an all-time low. They're not trading him. They'll find a more creative way to take the cap hit off the books and shelve him.

There will be no Showtime this season...but he's not playing anywhere else, either.

The worst thing is they got rid of Saad. Not that he's Kane, but he's a reasonable replacement offensively and there are other things he does better. If they still had him, losing Kane wouldn't be such a big hit.

bigfan was correct that it was a good time to look to move him, even before the latest rape. You're choking on the cap hit which caused you to lose Saad and will cause you to lose other good young guys if he wiggles out of this and you keep him.

I wouldn't blame them if the did though. If it's true I'd be all for getting rid of him

Gee, we agree on something! Trading Saad was a huge mistake He is extremely skilled AND a physical player. He's a great 2 way player and will be sorely missed. I would have dealt Crawford to free salary cap space before dealing Saad. He was just coming into his prime too.

No....Saad was not worth the contract he got from Columbus. He's good, but not that good.
