So lets say if abortion was outlawed next year and our governor said fuck it and kept funding abortion clinics, Seacrest would be ok with that since it was legal when he took the job.

They are not forcing her to let them Marry in the church she has gotten married at multiple times.

It appears that the 14th amendment is being used to apply here:

The KY constitution as it stands abridges the privileges of a same sex couple in the civil sense. I understand the law in place when she took her oath, but the Supremacy Clause overrides the KY constitution.

The cynical use of religion isn't the issue here. A clerk's right to not have to go against her religious beliefs is.

And I'm unaware of any biblical prohibitions against drinking from the Guy that turned water into wine and saved a woman from being stoned to death for adultery. So yes, that dog won't hunt.

But I don't think you & she are looking at the same bible. You're seeing the benevolent Jesus is King bible, whereas she and those of her cynical ilk are focused on the fire and brimstone, God as punisher book. At least as it suits their purposes.
