Maybe it is news to Dan that the boss of the Hawks would have final say and authority. Because Dan has a boss that has no say and authority over him.

This just winds back to my effort-post from the weekend about Dan's complicated relationship with the continued existence of John McDonough. No, it's not that the general manager reports to the CEO, it has to be these shadowy machinations full of rumor and innuendo, mental images of men in unlit parking garages exchanging big bags of money. If this is settled, McDonough will not order his hockey people to trade Kane if they think keeping him gives them the best chance to win another cup.

Maybe like a 5 game suspension, but that's it. And I think the union could fight that because you can't suspend him if he's never been charged.
