Surge soda has returned to some store shelves, a year after Coke brought back the 1990s drink through Internet sales.
There is still a loyal base of hard-core fans for the citrus-flavored soda with a kick.

When Coke brought it back via Amazon (AMZN, Tech30) in 2014, fans bought out supply available on the first day, despite a price of $14 for a 12-pack of 16-oz cans.
A Surge Web site currently shows it for sale in the Midwest, South, upper Great Plains states, as well as some eastern states. There's also a map of independent resellers nationwide, though mostly collectors' stores rather than grocers.
Coca-Cola (KO) did not respond to requests for comment.
Surge had its heyday in the 1990's, but Coke discontinued it at the start of this century.
Fans of the soda started The Surge Movement, seeking to convince Coke to bring it back. It's page on Facebook has attracted more than 200,000 "likes." In 2013, the group raised $4,000 to a buy a billboard near Coca-Cola's Atlanta headquarters that read: "Dear Coke, we couldn't buy Surge, so we bought this billboard instead."

wtf? i aint ever heard of no surge soda.... is that some goofy regional thing like moxie?

one thing i had in the 90s (or well, late late 90s if not early early 00s) that i'd love to come across was the rap snacks brand of potato chips. no BS gentlemen: master p's platinum barbeque was the best damn potato chip i've ever had, and no it wasn't the weed talking because i never really got munchies from smoking weed (i was always husky/pudgy/fat on my own just fine)

Surge was late 90's. I drank a ton of it in college in Dubuque. Was pretty sure it was also around here, but it was more prominent in Iowa.

Off to the Coliseum or Timmerman's. When I wasn't on the Diamond Jo at least.

While recently visiting the Barrington theater, they have that great pop machine where you can mesh flavors. I had a diet Melloyellow fused with cherry. It was good stuff.

Same here. Mt. Dew is just fine with me.

Red Bull/energy drinks made Jolt obsolete.

Surge had a national ad campaign--sort of an extreme sports motif with a bunch of random peeps rushing to grab a can of 'Surge' while yelling 'Suuurge'.

I've seen Water Joe back in stores. Or maybe it never left? Dunno.

Surge did a lot of product placement with WCW. Guys were always drinking Surge, talking about Surge, getting hit with giant coolers full of Surge, that kind of thing. Meanwhile, over in the WWF, X-Pac was endorsing some energy drink called, I think just "Energy."

I'm not a fan of the fluorescent chartreuse citrus sodas. Too cloying, too syrupy. I'm not drinking much soda anymore, though, weaning myself off with La Croix and Polar Seltzer (try the orange vanilla).

Meijer's stuff ain't too bad. Come to think of it, it's the only joint I know that hustles diet grape soda. Don't know if they have Cream Soda ... probably. Can't be as good as the Jewel blue can though.

Jewel stuff was actually great. The only rival to the blue can Cream Soda was Canfield's Swiss Creme, which by far is the best cream soda ever concocted.

Jewel's second store brand, President's Choice, had a great Black Cherry. Even after they mostly stopped selling that brand, they still had that one for a while.
